Hitachi 60fx32b is dead with no lights on front panel
Recently i got ahold of a hitachi big screen that has issues. i work on printers and other types of electronic equipment but am at a loss on this issue. here's what i got. when i power on the tv i hear the relay click on the control board. the safety protection light on the cb in the back of the tv blinks then goes to immediate red. no other lights(green ones) light up at all. they dont even flicker. i have checked the fuses i could find and they tested good. i only found 2 eventhough the diagram on the side panel shows 4. i got a feeling this is either an easy fix or a real expensive one. from what i THINK it should kinda go through a self check procedure whereas the green lights should come on saying ok for audio, then video.

Convergence is adjusted with Hitachi remote and to get into mode you remove speaker grill (on model indicated) and locate small blue button on front of chassis--with set on press button and grid of lines comes on.
If red is really bowed and will not adjust----the convergence chips need to be replaced.
Remove rear cardboard cover....can you see tops of red / green /
blue tubes ? Clean lens' with soft , dry cloth......Do you smoke ?
If not , replace back. Picture should now be clearer but not
necessarily brighter.......Next, remove front speaker grill and find
the RGB focus / screen adjust block....turn RGB screen controls
SLIGHTLY clockwise to achieve more brightness....not too much
or you will have retrace lines in background of picture.......Let me know after these steps are done........T.
You have a defective light engine and Hitachi is aware of it. Here's what you need to do...recently went through this. Call Hitachis customer relations department at 800-654-7013 and tell them you have a defective light engine. At first, they will act like they've not heard of this problem but they are all too familiar with it. They will give you the names of some certified dealers in your area. Once the tech comes out and confirms the problem, call Hitachi back at the 800 # I listed and they will call and confirm with the dealer that you have a bad light engine. They will send a brand new light engine to the dealer (Hitachi will cover the cost $1500) and the dealer will call you to come out and install.
Here's the kicker, if you're not still under warranty, Hitachi will cover the expensive part but you will have to pay the install. Our install was $400 but others on this site have paid around $200. If you're still under warranty, Hitachi will cover the part and install.
Please do not let any dealer tell you that you have to pay for this part. Hitachi has not recalled this part but they are replacing it to you for free...you just pay the install. Also, deal only with their customer relations at the 800# I listed.Good Luck:)
I hope thats a typo and you meant 2 (two) inches on the left side. Have you opened the small door on the front and hit the "magic focus" button yet? NOTE: be sure to turn on the set and let it run constantly for 20 minutes before pushing the magic focus button, once it starts do not push any buttons it will go through all 3 colors and stop on it`s own when it`s completed, if you don`t have bad IC`s this will fix your problem, good luck
