The monitor information keeps popping up on thescreen.
It's the gray boxe that displays the model/ make, serial number, and manufactured date. Also, the menu (the button beneath the monitor next to the power button) keeps popping up also. I tried contacting Sony, and they don't have a solution. I also disconnected everything and restored my system to no avail. As I'm typing this, the pop ups are still happening.
I might just need a new monitor...anyone got input?
Under the menu options, there's Menu Lock. Switch it to "On". It worked for me. My menu button wasn't working, so to access the menu, I had to hold down the arrow up button and push the arrow down button till I got to the Menu Lock Option.
It will only be one of 2 things, neither easy to correct I am affraid.
The contacts behind the buttons have become faulty and are contacting as if they were being pressed by the buttons on the control panel. To check this is simple (well for me). You will need to open up the monitor and disconnect the front control panels cable. If the pop ups stop, theres your answer. It would then need to have another panel installed.
The internal eeprom has an issue and is detecting that you are pressing the menu buttons and so displaying the menu. This could be a simple case of residue or even lint in the circuit that is giving an incorrect reading that is then translated incorrectly by the eeprom.

If it gives you message about the resolution, set the computer to use native resolution of the monitor. You can change the resolution by right clicking on desktop and choosing "screen resolution".

Not a solution but I am having the same problem. Besides this time, it says on my screen, and half of my screen is outlined by a blue box and it a bit darker than the other half. My Monitor buttons do not work either ... (Besides the turn on/off)
It is possible that menu button on the monitor is stuck. I suggest to call your computer manufacturer where you purchased the monitor, check for the warranty and request for a replacement.
If you can do the factory reset in the pop up menu, try it. You might have to try with another power supply, cord, or computer and check where the problem is.
The same happens to me!
