I recently purchased a Clarion NICE 430 from a private seller. They did not have the software that came with it. Where can I get this software? Also, can I register the GPS device and get a warranty?

Sounds like a bad unit, If its still under warranty, I would get it replaced. Its possible that by reflashing the device, this could fix the problem.

After a quick search, I could not find an update, try the support for Clarion to see if there is an update.

At this time no there is not and I would be doubtful that this model will receive an update.

Clarion has not had an update for this model since 2007. Many people are very upset about this. My suggestion is to purchase a different more popular model like tomtom or garmin. I hope this answers your question.

Take it back to the seller and try to get your money back. The seller does not provide the PIN number. The new user sets the PIN number and the security location. If you purchased this from a Garmin dealer, send it to Garmin with your original receipt and they will unlock it for you. If you purchased it privately, it was probably stolen. Garmin will not reset without an original receipt from a dealer.

The map data is ready for the upgrade. However, Clarion and the data supplier have been at odds over licencing disagreements. This is ridiculous. The current date for upgrade availability for the NICE 430 is 'sometime' in April. You can call Clarion Canada customer service and they will put you on an email list so that when the upgrade is available, you will be notified. I had the same problem. If you go to the about screen you will probably have an old firmware issue. Mine was 3.1.2007. Clarion is supposed to be sending me an update disk since I bought the unit online and it did not come with the most recent firmware/software. If you bought it from a retail place they should have the disk and can upload it for you. Mine only worked until I powered it down. You were supposed to be able to go to the advanced screen, clear all data, power it down and back on. That worked one time and once I shut it down again it never worked for me again. I reloaded the original disk and again it worked until a power down. You just need the new software.
