We have 4 sharper image s1724's. My husband's good deal, lol. Two have been in a closet since their purchase which was about the same time as their bankruptcy. One of the grids, no matter which of the four units it is placed in clicks, turns on drying unit, then shuts down. The other grid, again, no matter which of the four it is put in, goes into the drying cycles (no clicking), then turns off after the 3 hour drying period. Each grid keeps doing the same thing. I have thoroughly cleaned them as well as have used compressed air.

Try cleaning the grid blades with a scotch brite pad and clean the corona wires very gently with light grade sandpaper. this worked on one of my units.

Who could I send the blade interior section to to replace a broken part?

If you purchased it before 2008, nobody. Sharper image went bankrupt and was bought by another co who does NOT warranty or repair older products. Below is excerpt from their site:

I have 2 Ionic Breeze GP units with 8 year warranty, where do I get warranty work done. They are both not working. I have paper work for warranty. Can you help. [email protected]

I purchased a Hybrid GP germicidal Air Purifier, Model # S1724 ((Electric Air Cleaner AC110v 20w 50/60Hz)). My unit is severly malfunctioning and i nee to either send it in for repair or be given detailed...

Locate the photo electric eye that picks up the need to clean and give it a thorought cleaning. Good Luck and I hope you get it repaired. That photo cell should be your problem It's probably a little black or ruby red dot in a fin or on the housing where yhe air passes.

SHARPER IMAGE GP S1871

The bad news is Sharper Image recalled the units. They got into a legal squabble over the product with Consumer Reports on the unit based on an article they ran. Sharper Image couldn't prove how the unit worked so they lost the suit and had to pay all the legal bills forcing the company into bankruptcy.

I have a sharper image Ionic Breeze GP still under warranty. One of the blue lights on the Germicidal lamp is out and needs to be replaced. Where can I purchase this part, now that Sharper Image is no...

If the warranty you are counting on is a Sharper Image Warranty I need to advise you that it was voided in the buyout on 30 May, 2008 when everything at Sharper Image was liquidated by Hilco Consumer Capital, Gordon Brothers, and Bluestar Alliance. If however it was a warranty company outside of Sharper Image you need to contact them.

You can purchase a bulb for the GP on ebay for under $11, which is really a good price considering what you would have paid from Sharper Image. Installation is easy, you just pull up on the tab on the bottom of the filter and pull up. When you are looking at the bulb, turn it 1/4 turn, (2 clicks) and pull it out. That is all there is to it. Hope this helps you.

Sharper image ionic breeze air cleaner

There isn't one. The reason why Sharper Image went out of business is because the Ionic Breeze was proven to be ineffective product and harmful to use in some cases based on Consumer Reports data as well as data from the EPA. They sued Consumer Reports, lost the case, and had to pay all the legal bills.

The Consumer Products Safety Commission is going to making decision on all ionizers by the end of the year. It's quite possible that no one will be selling them anymore.

There is thread I left in the Ionic Breeze section about the EPA data on ionizers and the harmful effects of using them as well as a link about what happen to Sharper Image.

This product should have been regulated a long time ago. Orek and few others are going to be pulling the plug on them real soon.

Sharper Image GP Silent Air Purifier with Ionic Breeze s1730

i have 2 units, and had this same issue happen 3 times. Tonight it happened with a forth, last time i had to talk to management to get it replaced outside of warranty. Ionic breeze has major quality issues, and I would NOT buy anything else from sharper image. They also reduced the warranty from the original model drastically. for the price these were, they should be covered lifetime to show their commitment to their product. there is also a class action lawsuit against sharper image, for their false claims for the product...i believe sharper image chose to settle.
