I had to replace the hard drive in a Systemax CY 27 notebook. I did not have a restore disk. I loaded XP pro back on. Now the system does not recognize a video device. It is just running on a windows driver. Driver Guide just shoes that there is no video. Any suggestions? Thanks Frank

I HAVE A LAPTOP THAT STARTS BUT IT TELLS ME TO INSTALL AN OPERATING SYSTEM ON THE HARD DISK.

Sounds like a new blank Hard Drive, erased Hard drive or a faulty hard drive. If hard drives not faulty need to restore the original drives contents from a back up made previously on an external drive or DVD's. If you do not have the back up, then you need to load the original OS using an original restore CD / DVD's and then load all the correct and required drivers from the HP.com Site for that model PC and the OS (XP. VISTA. WIN 7 etc) you are using.

Mi notebook acer aspire 3000LCi the only do is a an upper and i dont have a recovery disk

When you restore your system back to the new factory settings, it will wipe your hard drive clean and do a fresh install of the operating system with the original factory setting.

To start this process, unplug all extra devices from your computer

(printers, external hard drives, etc.) as these can interfere with the system restore.

Starting with Windows XP, most systems with issued a system recovery disk in case of any problems with the factory installation.

Check the documentation and disks that came with your computer to determine if you have one of these system disks.

If you do have a copy of this disk, place it in your CD/DVD drive and restart your computer.

If you do NOT have a copy of this disc, skip to step 3 for further instructions.

Once you restart your computer, a screen will appear with the words.

Press Any Key to Boot From CD. Once you press a key, a screen will come up containing instructions to format your hard drive and restore the original factory settings.

Follow the on-screen prompts to finish the installation.

Once the restore is complete, remove your Recovery CD from the disk drive so that your computer does not try to boot from the CD again.

Restart your computer to complete the restore.

3. If you do not have a System Restore disk, then your computer should have a recovery partition on your hard drive, separate from the main partition of the disk.

Unplug all external devices and restart your computer.

When the loading screen comes on with the Windows logo, press Alt+F10 together five times.

This will bring up the system restore menu.

Follow the on-screen prompts to restore your computer back to the factory settings

hope this helps

HP nc6230 freezes shen loading Windows XP Pro

Try booting from your Optical Drive. First insert your Windows XP Pro CD into the drive. Do not re-install the operqating system or you will lose all your files and programs! When prompted press 'R' to use the Recovery Console. You should be able to write a new boot sector to your hard drive.

If this doesn't solve the problem, you might need to re-install the operating system. If you can find a way to save all your files from your drive (perhaps by putting your drive in an external USB caddy and viewing its contents on a different computer).

If all else fails get a new hard drive and start again with your WIndows XP Pro CD. Use an external 2.5" USB caddy afterwards to get your documents and files back off your old disk. You will need to re-install your programs, though. If your disk is Service Pack 3 you should be able to get straight back on the internet via a wireless connection to update all your drivers from hp's website.

Compaq Presario C300 Recoivery Disc 2 corrupt

Hi John.

F11 process is not working and you get a NTLDR missing when you turnon the notebook.

Steps to be performed:
1. Perform hard drive self test from BIOS.
2. If it is passed then use retail version of operating system disk to install XP or try using new recovery disks which nay cost you $15.00.

In your notebook model this issue appears if there is any issue with the hard drive.

T30 wont reformat

Sounds like you have a faulty hard drive. Can you see or detect the hard drive in the BIOS? To test the hard drive, remove it from the laptop and connect it to a USB hard drive adapter and plug it into a working computer's USB port. If this computer sees it as an external hard drive and you can open the various folders and files, then it os OK and the fault is in the laptop. If the hard drive is faulty, then you need to replace the hard drive in the laptop and install Windows to get the laptop working again.

No Audio

Hello,

I have a friend with a systemax, same thing happened to him.

Go into the control panel, select sounds and audio devices, go over three tabs to the audio tab, make sure the sound default device is the onboard audio card. Should be all set.

Let me know how it works out.

Engineers version XP pro

You can either restore the system with the recovery CD (back to ME, yuck!) or you can obtain a legal copy of XP and reinstall.
