I was gone for six hours and when I returned, there was water on the floor and in the fridge/freezer. I can hear it running, but it is no longer cooling. I unplugged it for the night and it is still not cooling the next day. Does this model have a common problem?

SOURCE: amana refrigerator

Sounds like it has either a bad compressor relay or if the brand name of the compressor is Tecumseh, it will need to be retrofit to a more reliable longer lasting Embraco compressor.

SOURCE: DEFROSTING/ WATER RUNNING ONTO FLOOR & INSIDE FRIDGE

Check to see if the run-off tube at the back is plugged.

I dont know how old the fridge is - but if it a couple years old check at the back or the fridge - there should be a tube running down the back of the fridge down into the bottom tray. This tube funnels water from the freezer (condensation, or water from the defrost) down onto the tray holding the compressor where it evaporates with help from the heat off the compressor. Sometimes this tube can get plugged up with some scum or mineral deposits, causing the built up water to drain from inside the fridge.

The tube shouldn't be too hard to remove and clean out with some hot water and pipe cleaners. Had the same issue on on a GE fridge last year.
Hope this helps!

SOURCE: fridge is no longer cooling. ER where the

Sounds like the FF(Freezer Fan) is wearing out or is worn out. This assembly supplies the circulation for the freezer as well as the refrigerator. When is slows down or stops the circulation of cold air to the refrigerator is the first thing that is effected. The minimum cost to replace this assembly is around $300.00

SOURCE: Stopped cooling but i can hear running

The overload/relay is probably bad .This is the part plugged onto the compressor , with 2 or 3 wires plugged onto it . You can easily replace this part . Be sure to have your model number when ordering .

Filtered water dispenser not working; water seems to be going into fridge instead

This could be a freeze up in the line or blockage or the filtre is plugged and needs changing. If you go to the website and type in the model number there is a lot of information there as how to service it.

Kenmore Model 596.75513400. Can hear refridgerator motor running, but both top and freezer are thawing out. The settings for both are on maximum cold (7). What do you think?

Sounds like your defrost timer may have gone bad. Feel your walls and if they
are hard with no give then the fridge is froze up solid not allowing any air to
circulate. Neverless try this: Unplug for 24-48 hours. Place towels on floor to **** up
water. Plug back in. If the fridge gets cold then the defrost timer is bad. This will also reset your fridge.
Unfortunately this is not a cheap fix and consideration may have to be given on
replacing your unit.
Good luck and thanks for your question and I hope my suggestions help. Don't forget to rate me.

Freezer not defrosting

Your defrost drain line is frozen over.Remove everything from the fridge and turn it off for 24 hours with the doors standing open.
The drain line will thaw and you will return to normal operation.
You could also turn the fridge off, remove the freezer floor panel and back panel. Take a hair dryer and thaw out the drain hole. Takes about 2 hours.
You decide which procedure to use.

I replaced the water filter for my GE GSH25JSTA SS side by side fridge and now the unit is no longer dispensing water

I have had the same problem with the same model several times in the past. It also happens to me within a few days of replacing the water filter.

In my case, I believe the water line in the freezer door has become frozen. I usually let the freezer thaw for a couple of hours, and my water works again.

I have had constant problems with this model. I would recommend trying to sell your fridge now while it's still running, before the real headaches begin (mine has died 2x in the past six months, and I have not even had it for 2.5 years yet). No more GE's in my house.

Water leaking from freezer and fridge

Need to see if the drain if frozen over. Will have to take back panel in freezer off to verify. This is usually the cause. If it is frozen over run hot water down drain until all ice is gone. If the defrost heater is close enough to the drain you can install what is called a heat probe that attaches to the heater and sticks down into the drain hole which helps prevent this problem.
