I purchased a Ingenuity Singer Sewing Machine The machine will not wind a bobbin. I put the bobbin on the winder and sometimes it won?t activate when I push it to the right and other times it when it does start, the machine stops working and flashes the number 88 on the display and then the machine will not do anything. Any idea what this means

Check that the bobbin winder is snapped all the way over.

Sorry, unable to provide more help, but a standalone bobbin winder may be helpful. You can find one brand (called "Sidewinder") at sewing stores like JoAnn's or online for ~ $30. Just verify that your bobbins will work (some Singer bobbins do not), but I assume your machine is a Bernina. Even if your bobbin winder is repaired, this standalone bobbin winder will save wear and tear on your machine--also, makes it so-o-o-o much easier to wind a bobbin without first removing the thread from your machine.

Am unable to assist with the actual problem with your machine, however, you can still wind bobbins. For ~$35, a standalone bobbin winder (Sidewinder is one brand) can be purchased at JoAnn's, Hancock's, or Amazon.com. Will also help prevent wear and tear on your favorite machine, as well as allow you to wind bobbins without unthreading your machine.

Chances are the clutch that switches the power from the machine to the winder has slipped. It can be repaired, but an easier alternative is to purchase an inexpensive (under $25) bobbin winder. It does a better job, too. You can purchase it from WalMart online, and if you pick it up at a WalMart or a FedEx facility, shipping is free.

Sandy, I'm not familiar with IZEK machines, but it sounds like the bobbin winder has not correctly disengaged. Put it back into bobbin winding mode and run it (no need to wind a bobbin, just check that the bobbin winder turns), then stop and disengage the bobbin winder and try sewing again. Hope this solves it for you. If it won't turn the bobbin winder either then it may have slipped or broken the drive belt and you will need to take it to your local sewing centre.

If you go to the Singer site, they generally have the user's manual that you can download for free. It will tell you how to use the bobbin winder. Every sewing machine has the ability to wind a bobbin, but there are several different systems, according to the machine you purchased. Alternatively, you can purchase an inexpensive bobbin winder for under $25 at WalMart online.

My singer hasn't wound bobbins for years and I don't care because I use a Side Winder bobbin winder. It's much easier than takining the thread off the machine anyway. Available from Hancock, Jo Ann or even Wal Mart for about $30.

If you have followed the instructions and the winders do not work, the machines will need to be repaired, or you could purchase a Sidewinder Bobbin Winder and forgo the expense of having the machines repaired.

I have been having the same thing happen. I just discovered the bobbin winder was in the wind position. I moved it and I am in business again! Hope it works for you!
