Tv will not stay on for more than about 5 seconds

When i plug the power cord in, the tv automatically turns on. i dont have to press power or anything, it just turns on, makes the normal beeping noise that its turning on, the lamp light flashes a couple times, the picture comes on, works for about 3 seconds, then the screen freezes, stays frozen for a couple more seconds and then the tv shuts off, restarts and does the whole sequence over again. what could be causing this? i dont think its the bulb as the picture is very clear and bright when its on, but the tv will not stay on. the other thing that i noticed it is doing is throughout the whole process, anytime i press any button on the remote other than menu, the (TIMER) light on the power button lights up. any insight into this would be greatly appricated. thanks

I don't even get 5 sec. Samsung HL-R5667W turning set on results in brief flash from "tiner" lamp followed by several flashes from "lamp" light then nothing. No picture or sound at any time.

Same problem. We have had the set for about 2 years. The service guy said he thinks the board is bad and lightning may have struck. We are in Florida and have lightning all the time. I think it is a deffect after reading several post. $500 to $600 job. I will keep you informed.

It is normal for timer lite to blink when a remote command is sent. However, the problem you are having can be caused by several different things. I have had the same problem with my samsung dlp and have done the factory service for several years. First, you need to vacuum out all vent holes on the rear of the set. Then, remove the lamp cover, unscrew the screw holding the lamp in place and remove lamp. Do not touch glass. Look to see if filament is shattered. If not, firmly reinstall lamp and secure. Then reinstall lamp door making sure you engage door switch. Try set and see if this helps unless lamp was shattered. If not, replace lamp. Weather or not it is bad, you will need one sooner or later. Also, listen for a zing noise a few seconds after power is engaged. This is the color wheel which is another possible cause for this symptom. Truth is, almost any part in the set can cause this, but I gave you the most common things you can do by yourself to test this unit. Good luck, Russmann.

When I turn on my Sony TV, ti stays on about 30 seconds then shuts off, What do you think is wrong?

Do a Power Reset.
1. Turn off TV.
2. Unplug the power cord of the TV from the electrical outlet.
3. Let the TV remain without power for 60 seconds.
4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet. (If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.)
5. Turn on the TV.
If issue persists after doing the steps, reset the TV to factory default settings.
1. Turn on the TV.
2. Using the supplied remote, press and hold the UP arrow button.
3. While holding the UP arrow button press the POWER button on the TV itself.
4. When the TV goes off, release the POWER and UP arrow button.
5. The TV will turn on by itself and the initial setup screen will be displayed. Just follow the on-screen prompts to finish the setup.

Why won't it turn on?

Fault to its main board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Surf the site with patience. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ . In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

When I turn the tv on it turns back off on its own. When I press the on button the tv is slow to come on. When it does come come it only stays on about 5 seconds then turn off automatically.

Good day!!!!

That problem is usually cause of faulty capacitors on the power supply board..

Just follow this instruction to fix your TV..

1. Open the back cover of your TV.
2. Look at the power supply board..Its normally connected to the power cord..
3. After that,,try to look at the actual image of capacitors if it is bulged on the top so that you can easily determine the bad capacitors..
4. After that,,try to replaced the bad capacitors using soldering iron and soldering lead..replaced the capacitors only with the same type ratings and value..
5. Some of the capacitors not bulged so its better if have a capacitance meter

I have a 57" 57F500. It will not stay on

Resetting the TV
If the buttons on the remote AND the buttons on the TV case do not work (channels do not change and you cannot open or navigate the menu), the TV has stopped responding. Reset the TV as follows:

NOTE:
Some TVs have a reset button. If available and accessible, try using the reset buttons before using the steps below. Using the reset buttons can save time.
1. Unplug the TV power cord from the power outlet.
2. Unplug any connected devices (DVD, Set-top boxes, etc...)
3. Press and hold the TV power button for five seconds.
4. Plug the TV power cord back into the power outlet and turn on the TV.
5. Open the on-screen menu to confirm that the TV is responding again.
6. Turn off the TV and reconnect the devices.
7. Turn on the TV.
If ever resetting is no effect then the problem is in the "DM board"

Hope it may help you;

Regards;
