That is the problem. iTunes will only allow you to put audiobooks in that section if they were bought from the iTunes store. It's very annoying, but i suggest just making a playlist to hold all the files. iTunes doesn't let you set the type as "Audiobook" for files.
Convert audiobook to MP3 with a tool such as TunesKit Audible AA/AAX Converter (https://www.tuneskit.com/audible-aa-aax-converter-mac.html) and then try to transfer them to iPod again.

iTunes is always the first choice for most of iPod users when it comes to transferring music from computer. It can help you transfer and backup files easily.
Connect your iPod to PC via matched USB cable.
Click the phone icon on the left corner of the interface. To manage your media files manually, you'd better go to "Options" under "Summary"tab, cancel "Automatically sync when this iPhone is connected" and check "Manually manage music and videos". Don't forget to click "Apply" when it's done.
Import music into iTunes library from computer by clicking "File" and then "Add File to Library". Once transferred successfully, you can select the music icon on top to see all the songs.
Click "Music" under "Settings" tab. Choose "Sync Music". You can either sync entire music library or selected playlists as you like. Then click "Sync" button at the bottom.
The iPod's shuffle feature lets you randomize playback of albums, songs or even your entire music library. You may also find this feature useful if you want to listen to forgotten tracks in your library or discover songs you haven't listened to yet. Disabling the shuffle feature will return playback of a song list to its standard consecutive order. You can enable and disable the shuffle feature at any time.
Navigate to the main menu. Select "Settings." Scroll to the "Shuffle" option. Select "Songs" or "Albums." If you select "Songs," the iPod Classic will shuffle the songs on whatever song list you listen to. If you select "Albums," the iPod Classic will play all songs of an album you select in order and then randomly select another album. Navigate to the playlist or album to which you want to listen. Play a song to initiate the shuffle. b> iPod Nano and iPod Touch Tap the "Songs" icon on your nano home screen. If you are using an iPod Touch, open the "iPod" application. Navigate to the song list, playlist or album you want to play. Tap the "Shuffle" icon at the top of the list to activate the feature.

How Do I Download Songs Onto My iPod Nano? IPod Nanos are portable multimedia players that allow you to playback songs and other content (e.g. video) no matter where you go. They come in a variety of memory sizes such as 4GB or 16GB (gigabytes) and work with iTunes to upload songs. ITunes is the iPod default management program which allows you to upload songs to its library, create playlists and sync music on your iPod quickly and easily. This simple process will have you jamming to your favorite songs in no time.

Tips & Warnings Click "Music Store" if you want to purchase a music file. Search for the song on the iTunes store and download it to the iTunes library.
Connect your iPod to your computer with the USB cable that came with your iPod. The iPod screen should say "Do not disconnect".
Your iPod should appear under Devices in the bar to the left.
Decide whether you want to sync your iPod with your iTunes library or manually put songs on your iPod.(nano only)
Syncing your iPod will automatically add all of the songs in your library to your iPod. It will also delete any songs from your iPod that are not in your library. Click on your iPod icon and select Sync in the lower right corner.
If you do not want all the songs in your library on your iPod, make a playlist of all the songs you do want, or decide which playlists you want to include on your iPod.
Click on your iPod icon On the top bar, click on the button which says "Music"
Make sure the box that says "Sync Music" is checked, then check the box for whether you want your iPod to sync with the entire library or selected playlists. If you click selected playlists, select the playlists you want in the playlists category. For newer iPods you can check which artists are included on your iPod to automatically import all the songs from each selected artist onto your iPod
download the latest version of itunes from here http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Then install the program.
Copy your music over to itunes either by copying your CD's or importing your music that you already have on your computer, you can do this by going to File>add folder to library or add file to library and go to where your music is and import. This will convert your music to be played in itunes and to be recognised by your ipod. Once you have done this, create a playlist of music that you want on your ipod. Go to File>new playlist. and rename the playlist to a name more suitable. Then select which songs you want on your ipod by righ-clicking the song and send to playlist, select the playlist that you just created. Once you have your playlist and are happy that you have all of the songs that you want, plug your ipod into the computer, itunes will pick the ipod up and load the necessary drivers for it. You will notice a little picture of your ipod on the left hand side of the screen, click on it then click on and update your ipod with your playlist.
I myself have a 4gb iPod Mini, so i can't transfer my full library to my iPod, at least until i get a Classic. But in your case, you need to set up your iPod ot let you manually manage your music, and setting your iPod to only sync sonts that are checked in your library. When you manually manage your music you choose the music you want on it by Playlist, so the LimeWire playlist (that should have already been set up with the first song you downloaded from the program) will need to be checked in the "Playlists" box under the "Music" tab the next time you sync it.
Hope that helps!
