I assume you mean the white wire under the rear motor cover? If so Sta-Rite puts a wiring diagram inside this back cover. Hopefully it is still intact for you. Depending on your model and if it is wired for 115vac or 220vac will make a difference. I would suggest you go to the link I attached and look up your manual. The manual will have the wiring diagram for you.

How to wire motor sta rite p2ra5e 181L

The green wire is the ground and bolts onto the motor frame on the top part,(should see a green screw). the other two wires go to the two posts with screws to clamp down on the wires. It does not matter which way these two are hooked up, one on each post.

Most motors are pre-wired for 220v from the factory. If you have 220v you're good to go. If you happen to have a 115v setup the motor will run at half speed. The motor can be converted to 115v by moving a brown wire and a white wire in the motor. The diagram is on the motor label.Best to verify your voltage first.

I have a P2RA5F-182L Sta-rite pool pump which the white plastic connector for the power leads has total been broken (it has the 220/110 switch integrated into it). Can i bypass this and straight wire it...

Contact me thru www.arrowmotor.net; we stock the part you need. To ensure you get the correct version it would be helpful if you took a digital picture so you can send it in an email.

To answer your question, yes - you could strip all the wires back and bypass the terminal board but in the long run it will make it much harder to install the part since you will need to put all new terminal ends on including a female pin style that requires a special crimper.

Wireing sta-rite MD#K48L2A1 WITH A STANDERD 115V PLUG RED,WHITE,GREEN&BLACK

Thank you for posting your question here on Fixya.com.

I take it your cord is 3-wire plus a ground hence the 4 colors? If so you will only need to use white black and green. On the plug you should see a silver colored screw and a copper one; black to the copper and white to the silver. Green to the green screw and the plug is done.

Connect the white and black wires to the motor L1 and L2 terminals. It does not matter which color wire goes to which line terminal as long as only one wire is on each line terminal.

Ground the green to the green post in the motor and be certain you set the motor to 115 if it is a dual voltage unit that can be switched to either incoming line voltage.

I have a sta rite pool filtere and it is running

Pump motors used in most pool aplications can not be reversed. Changing the wires on the capacitor or reversing the line connections will not change the motor rotation. A failed capacitor can, from time to time, let a motor start "backwards" but it will not happen often if even at all. You might need to take the motor to a local electric2_bing.gif motor repair shop for an inspection.
