Our dimmer switched worked perfectly last night and this morning. This afternoon when I went to turn the light on it didn't work. It works if you manually hit the up or down button on the side. However, the large dimmer button in the middle isn't working. It feels loose like it isn't attache or hitting the right place to turn the lights on. We have these installed all over our house and this is the first one that has ever done this.

How old are the dimmers? Lutron had some issues with the "touch pad" plastic supplier back in the late 90's. I worked for an electrical distribution company selling them and we replaced quite a few (at Lutron's expense). Take a look at the bottom of the touch pad, there is a FASS (Front Accessible Safety Switch) that sometimes can inadvertantly get turned off or on. The older models have one that slides, the newer version has one that pulls out... however, since you said that the 'raise / lower' works on the side so this would indicate that the touchpad is defective. (the FASS switch completely removes power from the dimmer). The other 'symptoms' to look for: - Are the LED's on the side are on or dimmly lit. If they are not and you are able to manually control the light as you are now, you should call Lutron's tech support line. - Have you recently changed the 'type' of lamp in the fixture that the dimmer controls? (incandescent bulb to CFL for example). Let me know if I can help! (Lutron Tech Support number: 800-523-9466 - 24/7)

Sounds like an internal part has broke and you will have to replace the whole switch. anytime you have trouble with something like that it is always best just to go ahead and change it. it doesn't if its a day old or 10yrs old. not worth the chance of burning yourself down.

be glad to help you further if you need it txt me at 865-888-1220

SOURCE: 3 pole dimmer not completely working

there is not way to know how the wires are run by the description.
it is possible to connct true 3-way switch, it will required additonal pair of wires to all 3 switches (meaning 3-14/3 wire).
so call 3-way switches is only two way. I have not seems a real 3-way switches.
go to the following site. they a connection diag. for the switches.

SOURCE: A fixture on a Lutron Maestro dimmer switch stopped working.

This dimmer was not made to dim a load smaller than 40VA. That halogen bulb would only have been 20VA or so.

I think that when your bulb burnt out, the dimmer over-volted the transformer and smoked it. That said, I think you have a fixture problem and, possibly, a switch problem, too.

SOURCE: Lutron Maestro dimmer rocker stopped working

Because the switches are relatively inexpensive, there aren't kits to repair them when they fail mechanically. Your best bet is to get an exact replacement from a Home Depot or such, turn off the breaker switch, and rewire it exactly as it was, using wire nuts and tape.

SOURCE: My Lutron dimmer/lights suddenly will not turn on.

Indicator light is OFF.
Either dimmer stopped working or power to dimmer is off.
Check if electricity is present inside box.
Check nearby electrical plug to see if everything nearby has power.
Swap dimmer with regular switch and see if lights turn ON.
Check dimmer wires: if wires to dimmer are pushed into 'quick connect' holes on back of dimmer, these wires can get loose.
If dimmer is connected by wire nut, sometimes a wire can pull loose.
If no electricity is inside the box, and breaker is ON, then there is a loose wire inside one of the boxes on that circuit and electrician has to track back until loose wire is discovered.

Replacement parts for in-wall devices are not made.
If new dimmer is necessary, consider lighting factors:
Total wattage of lights. New dimmer has watt rating.
Type of lights. Dimmers specify florescent or tungsten (incandescent) or both.
Single-pole and 3-way. If two dimmers control same lights, one is control dimmer, other is companion dimmer.

Well you've lost power to one or two major circuits. Could be a problem with the key switch or a major fuse in the engine compartment.
I would check the fuses for power and find out which ones are dead then go from there.

We have changed the dimmer switch, but when I have to change my lights from dim to bright my lights go out. This was happening before we changed the dimmer switch, but was not as bad. Last night when I had...

I had a similar problem with my Camry that the light will go out when I go from dim to bright. I found that in the dimmer switch contacts there is a small plastic piece that runs through one or two contact to operate a set of contact. Mine was broken. Seeing that you have a new switch it could be that yours are maybe not correctly in place - that is if it works the same as a Camry's.

No lights

Check headlight and high beam switch for power in, power out. If power there, change whichever switch isn't working (remember dimmer switch gets power from headlamp switch) If no power going to headlamp switch check main fuses and fusable links for problems.
