I am having the same problem. I have done some research and found a notorious cap and diode problem with this set. The two 4700uf caps (C14113 and C14115) on the DM1 power board (the board to the left of the sat. box when you look at the set from the back) are under rated and will eventually fail. When these caps fail they tend to take out diode CR14105. This may be your problem. If it is, you can replace the caps with 4700uf 25V 105c and the same as original diode. In my case the diode appears to be ok. This info comes from some forums and a service buletin from Thomson Co.

I found this TV, Today and decided to try to fix it. I found the exact same problem with the 2 caps you described. they were popped up on the top.
I also tested and they seemed fine but only had a DVM with mo cap tested on it. I pulled them out and am ordering 2 new ones like you suggested
4700mf 25V, I do not know which diode you are referring to and was wondering if you can give me the location on the power board.of the diode that may also be bad. Thanks for the tips I might be able to finally have a bigger TV.
Mine went dead. I found the standby regulator and a resistor blown. Would something else cause this or should it be ok by just replacing the parts?
My RCA F38310 went dead and I found the standby regulator and a resistor blown. Would something else cause this or should it be ok if I just replace the parts?
I also have no power however I seem to have some other problem I think. The Caps look fine, however two resistors blew (R14131 & R14110) does anyone have the values of these and a possible reason for them blowing. Could this also be a case of bad caps (wasn't able to test them, but they weren't visibly stressed)
