Downlading onto Laptop

My laptop does not recognize my NV - DX100 Camcorder when I plug the firewire into the USB port. Do I need software? If so, where can I get the drivers for this paticular Camcorder. - Thanks

The supplier supplied a cable, which connects to the firewire port of my camcoder, a very small. looks like a 9-pin DV in/out port. On the other end is a USB connector, for connecting to my PC. So firewire is suppose to be connected to USB!

Well I have PC with ABIT IL8 mother board. On front panel I have two
USB conectors with aditional conector for 1394 cabel for digital
cameras. When I pluged my camera with this cable to computer WINDOWS XP
( service pack 3 ), computer does not recognize this device ( Panasonic
NV-DX100 ).How I read on forums, special on Microsoft Web the drivers
should be included with OS ( ).
I tried to find it manual in OS with no luck. So my cuestion is how to
solve this problem. I would like to know where can i download driver
for my camera ( it does not matter, if it is from microsoft, Panasonic
or other WEB page ), beacuse i think that with corect driver it should
work properly. Or is there any other tip for adjusting USB 2,0 device (
i read somewhere that speed on USB 2,0 and firewire device is not the
same, and that is posible to adjust it ), or are there any kind of
drivers on the web to fix this.
tried to do so many things whitout any luck so far only i didn't pluged
my old CANAPUS ( DV RAPTOR ) card in to PC, beacuse it's usefull only
for capturing ( real time rendering is not posible beacuse the graphic
cad and raptor don't use the same hal drivers so the device is totaly
unusefull except for capturing ). So again if there is A solution as I
asked i would be gratefull for information.

    Best regardes B.B.

Yes I have the same problem for my nv-dx100 has been working perfectly for years on my computer with the dv cable and just started back doing some old tapes today on the camcorder, first I noted that when I connected the camcorder to the computer it went ding, ding being the sound of connecting to the computer and then “dong” being the sound of disconnecting even if I have not disconnected it. I have run in Control Panel/Add Hardware, but will not detect camcorder.

    I have XP SP3

Was there something in SP2 that is not in SP3

I am fortunate that have an add on to the bottom of the camcorder that will let me take the film out in Composite or s-video for today but need the dv cable for best quality. The name of the part that came as part of the nv-dx100 is VSK0499

Firewire and USB are not the same things
You will need a Firewire host adapter installed in your PC - such as Q-Tec PCI card (IEEE 1394 compatible) which comes with software / drivers

Good luck

This Panasonic should work with a firewire cable and does not need special software. Both Mac and PC will work OK.

I want to download film onto my laptop from my Panasonic NV-GS50 and don't have the driver **** to load onto my computer. where can i get the software??

You are in luck! You do not need a driver for this camera to transfer video over the firewire port into your computer. All you need is the appropriate cable and some video editing software. The software can be as simple as Windows Movie Maker (if you are on a PC) or iMovie (if you are on a Mac). Plug your camera into the firewire cable, turn it on and put it in playback mode, then start your video software. Then there should be an option or menu entry labeled "import footage from camera" or "import" or "transfer from camera" or similar, depending on what software you are using.
Good luck and happy video editing!

You can download the still pictures which have in camera's memory card (SD Card). If u want download the video in the minidv cassette u have to use dv port which is in camera through with firewire (1394), another end in computer not usb firewire card. If u want download still picture only u can use usb. please reinstall software

Canon vixia hv 30 not recognized by computer

This camcorder uses USB for pictures only. To access pictures, plug in USB cable, set the camcorder to Play and to Memory Card.

To transfer video you need a firewire cable and card. Actual cable will depend on connection your computer has, typically it will be something like this: FireWire_cables.jpg

Additionally, to transfer video you will need a video capture software and codecs, unless the software has the codecs (Nero does). Unfortunately all free video editing software I tried was unable to deal with HD. I had various levels of success with Windows Movie Makver, Ulead and Nero.

You may want to record video in non-HD, and see if you are able to capture that. If your computer can capture that but not HD, and you have the codecs installed, you will need to investigate your computer.

If all you need is a codec, here is a good free candidate: K-Lite Mega Codec Pack

It is of course very frustrating that Canon would include nothing with the camcorder to assist users with video caputure.

How to get my PC recognize the Panasonic NV-GS15

Solution A: make sure you are using the correct cable for what you are doing (eg USB for webcam and importing photos and Firewire for transferring video footage

most desktops have firewire plug in them but laptops don't usually

to get a firewire plug in a laptop you need a PCMCIA to Firewire Cardbus (ask your local retail store for one or buy one on ebay etc.)

after that put the cardbus in your PCMCIA slot and restart

then go to Windows Movie Maker and press "capture from video device"

hope this helps!
