did you detach the wifi card and or the sound card? I think you need to be more specific with as to what your problem is and a little anecdote about past experience with this laptop would also be helpful.

Did you use Windows 7 drivers for the machine?

You can't scan to word unless you have OCR software running. Word is for text and without OCR it is only a picture or image and not text. It's not cheap but you need to shop around for something like Adobe with OCR to convert to text.

I have yet to setup any printer on a print server and not have it work. There are times that some functions do not work. For example there are control buttons on the printer itself for scanning, copying, faxing etc that if it was "directly" connected to the computer itself the computer would prompt you .. those kind of things don't work .. but other than that .. You should have no problem

Hi, You can try use an OCR program. Sometimes it is included/bundled in the software/drivers/application CD that came with your scanner. You can also google for freeware versions. OCR (Optical Character Recognition) will recognize the text from the scanned document, you can copy/paste and thereafter edit. Hope this be of some help to you. Pls post again how things turn up. I am asuming your using XP, this happened to me a few years ago, i searched google and found a forum that had instructions on editing a registry key to fix the problem but i wasn't able to see the drives in the device manager at all, so check that first and make sure they are there and try reinstalling the device drivers,using windows update or manually search for newest version of the drivers, if all that fails try reinstalling the applications your having issues with, if that fails you can try getting another application to replace the ones that aren't working, try alcohol 120% or Nero, those are about the best out especially a120 however it would require a purchase.
