SOURCE: 2004 harley heritage softtail. Battery dead.

Battery is under seat, either 8 or 10mm wrench to remove terminal nuts. Be careful with cables.

No sound

Hi,
My Harley Davidson lamp stopped working a couple of years ago with no sound, night light and the lights on the motorcycle all stopped working but only the main light worked, so I have just taken it apart to see the problem. (fed up it didn't work)
I checked the fuse and it was OK so I removed it and its board, I also removed the transformer, then used my multimeter set to ohms and checked the transformer (RED) input wires and got a zero reading, no resistance tells me the primary winding had burnt out. The (BLUE) output wires did have resistance which tells me the secondary winding was OK.
I de-soldered the Red and Blue wires and bought a new similar transformer from eBay soldered it in and the lamps and sound now works as it should

Can I turn the lamp on fron a switched recpt or do I always have to push the button on the lamp?

I think you still have to push the button even if the power switch is on just to kinda get everything started, It will turn on the light & any neat movement &/or sound effects that it makes will happen & if it's anything like my daughters lamp that's similar to this, if you push the button a second time, music and sound will happen again but then the light will shut off. I'm not positive that i'm correct & apologize if i'm wrong but my daughter has a Disney dancing princess lamp & thats how it worked. It also had a switch to turn on or shut off the sound so i hope I helped somehow now that i've written a novel that should have been 1 or 2 sentences. Sorry

That was a long time ago, 2008, but as I remember I went Through KNG America and purchased a new sound board for $28.00. U will have to have a solder gun and remove the old board and solder in the new one. It totaly fixed mine works great. Here is a link, as I recall I asked to talk to tech support, give the make model # ect of the radio, explain the prob, and ask for a replacement sound or tunner board( I can not remember what they called the part) http://www.manta.com/c/mm7jbzb/kng-america In the event the link dose not work there phone # is (631) 389-5642. PS. kng stands for Kash N Gold Ltd, if u need to do some searching. Good luck, Hope I was of some help.

KNG America Harley Davidson Motorcycle Lamp Repair.

Big tip 'o' the hat to harleyds96 for giving me the impetus to get after it and tear the lamp down and sort it out. You'll need a precision Phillips #1 screw driver to remove the 8 screws. You'll have to pry the 4 little rubber pads off that double as screw hiders
Once you've carefully separated the bottom plate from the rest of the pedestal, you'll see that you need an extra set of hands to hold the plate, amber glow ring, and the main lamp body with, while you fight with the little fuse box in the center of the lamp.
They all have to be held, because the speaker wire runs through the amber ring to the bottom pad, and can't be unplugged, 'cuz it's soldered. No spade connectors, nah, that'd be too easy - and complicated. They'd like to make it so much easier to toss out another $80 for a replacement, 'cuz you stupidly lost the receipt!
So now that you've got everything separated, you discover that there's another two screws holding the ends of the fuse box to the main body of the lamp. Yes, they must be taken out too, so's you can properly fight with the four little clasps holding the fuse box together!
If you can get it popped open without ripping wires from their solder connection, you're a neurosurgeon! I lucked out, 'cuz I did the operation whilst sitting at the computer desk, so the bottom two pieces could rest on it, without ripping the speaker wires off of the speaker, while at the same time, the main body of the lamp was resting in my lap.
Now that you've succeeded in getting the box open, you'll see that you have that little fuse there, that the Harley lady mentioned above found. It's stamped - 1A/250 V, which, I suppose, would mean it could be plugged in down undah, where they use 240 volts.
So I'm going to see if I can find a 2A/250V fuse somewhere, and if that's too hot for it - TOUGH! I'll have a Harley Davidson plastic patty melt! vonster.vaughn

Toshiba 56hm66 New lamp worked last night, wont boot up again

You now have a defective lamp ballast board. It sometimes is the root cause of lamp failures in these sets. The problem here is that Toshiba does not sell the ballast board independently from the larger, more expensive light engine assy. Call Best Buy back and get a servicer out there. He may have to take the ballast board out of your TV and send it out for rebuilding.
