First try to see if it appears on the My Network places...when you get there click on the view network connections..if the local area connection do not appear ..you have to try in the device manager to right click on the computer and choose to scan for hardware changes..this should bring the network adapter in sight ..if it is in yellow just reinstall the driver for it ..from the disk or the acer support site ..
or ..just go here and reinstall the driver for the Lan card directly ..

Hi Good Day,

1) Try this simple steps:

click on the windows logo (START BUTTON) then right click on computer then left click on properties or system properties then click on device manager then under network adopter look for wireless LAN make sure it doesn't have an X mark if so the driver for your wireless card is not installed.

if your computer still under warranty then you bring it back to the store where you purchase it have them replace it with a working computer.

2) try connecting your computer via ETHERNET cable and if your able to connect to the internet that way it mean that there's a hardware / software problem with your wireless adopter installed in your computer.

My acer 4310 connects fast to wi-fi pero pag internet cable na as in ung dsl hindi gumagana

Hi there,

When you plugged in the ethernet cable, does it show on your windows tray (lower right corner of the screen) that the LAN is connected? It should show you "Connected" if you hover your mouse on the LAN icon.

Try also to plug in the ethernet cable to a different port on the router, and that the port number on the router is showing a solid green led light.

If all has been observed and still you cannot connect, look if the network adapter for your lan is working. RIGHT click your My Computer or "Computer" and select Manage. The Computer Management window will open. Click on the Device Manager on the left to show the list of devices on the right. Look for Network Adapters and click the + sign. See if your LAN adapter is not showing any yellow exclamation point. Also, right click on it and select Properties. You should see the device is working properly under status.

Please let me know how this goes. Thank you for using FixYa.

No desktop connection

Remove & reinstall your Ethernet adapter.

(right click) MY COMPUTER, Manage, DEVICES (Device Manager). All devices should show up by category.

under Ethernet/Networking you will see a Yellow Caution or a red X. Either way, click once on that line, and press DELETE key. Remove the device.

Close out, RESTART COMPUTER

This should trigger the system to re-install the Ethernet Networking Device. If you leave the Ether Cable plugged in, then you should automatically recognize/discover the network (nternet, etc).

If this does not work, then you should probably look your system up (support.dell.com, support.hp.com, etc) and identify the network device. You SHOULD be able to download the drivers write them onto a CD and transfer to Desktop #2.

If you have further issues, please contact me at 906-495-1707 or via YIM [email protected] or through this website.

Ethernet controller

If the device is functional but not listed under "Network Adapters" in the device manager, it may be listed under "Other devices" as an "unknown device" or ethernet adaper. I would suggest using another computer to go to support.hp.com. There type in the model of your laptop and "drivers" for a keyword. It should then take you to a support area where you can download the drivers for your network card, IF it is functional.

IBM ThinkPad i Series 1200

Try this driver. I've used it on a few I-series Thinkpads that I've had come through my shop. After the download, uninstall the ethernet drive from the device manager, then reboot. The machine will find the ethernet port and reinstall the drive automatically. If this one doesn't work for you, let me know, an d we'll try a different one.
