Replace the decompression valve. also check for carbon buildup on top of piston. usually when a saw stops on its own after 5 min or so.... the piston and jug are scored and need to be replaced.

TS420'S HAVE SEVERAL PROBLEMS, I DO NOT RECOMEND BUYING ONE... THE AIR FILTER HOUSINGS STRIP OUT, THE CARBURETORS LEAK OUT THE RIGHT SIDE THROTTLE SHAFT CAUSING IT HARD TO START AND IDLE AND REVING PROBLEMS, I HAVE ALSO REPLACE ABOUT 25 CYLINDER AND PISTONS IN ONE YEAR ON ABOUT 30 SAWS SOLD.... I WOULD RECOMEND BUYING A TS700 OR LOOK AT OTHER BRANDS, MOST PARTS ON THIS SAW SOME FROM CHINA

2 year old TS410 no power recently, was serviced , correct mix but dies when pressure comes on ,blade stops, starts fine and runs idle fine-tom

Hi Thomas its probably had its high/low screws reset and whilst it runs fine on the bench under load its running weak try unscrewing the high screw out a half a turn

Stihl ts 400 has stopped working and sounds rough when pulling the cord

Sounds bad, the only answer here is to pull the cylinder off and check the condition of the internals, if there is a lot of dust behind the filter and into the back of the carb the engine is going to be in need of rebuild.

Stihl ts 420 concrete saw screws will not come out to replace air filter

This was very common, they say it was because the screws were too long and prutruding through the nut the thread then gets covered in concrete dust and when trying to unscrew locks in the thread. You will probably have to destroy the cover to get it off.

There are 4 torx screws on the black back cover. Here is the owners manual. It is explained on page 33.

Hi,my stihl ts 410 saw cuts out after about 10 minutes work,it restarts soon after then cuts out after about 10 minutes again? any ideas,thanks dave

Sounds like an overheating problem.
Are you working in a well-ventilated area or in direct sunlight?
Check, if you can, the temperature of the motor case.
You might have to take a break more often.
This hot summer has stressed a lot of motors and electronics.
When it shuts off you know it is trying to save itself from burnout.
