I've owned this great little Black and Decker CST800 grass trimmer for 6 years and only use it in Montreal summers (5 months long). Just this past week, I brought it in to recharge it and left it for 5 days on the charge. I went to use it last night and I barely got going when it started losing power. How long is the battery life in this machine? Is it worth replacing or buying a new trimmer? Thanks, Geoff.

Never charge batteries that long usually only 3to5 hours if ni-cd . most batteries last 3 or 4 years . totally discharge pack and try to charge again . if nothing buy new battery pack

The cord is not properly wound on the center spool, or there is dirt, grass, plant parts, etc. in the spool release mechanism.
First step clean and check the spool and release.
Ditch that old switch, and buy a better quality switch from HomeDepot or RadioShack that will suit your need. I personally ran into that same problem and brought a 2HP GP switch from HomeDepot. It works way better, than that stock swicth. ( It may require a little modification to the body though.)
I am a bit upset. I purchase a Black and Decker Trimmer and you guys want to charge me almost 10$ to give me a little bit of advise on a problem.
