The wireless network button (the one that lights up blue when pressed, to enable wireless connection to the internet) won't switch on. I can press it in, but it doesn't turn blue or do anything at all... it's stuck on red (off!). Any suggestions??

CHECK YOUR WIRELESS ACCESS IS ENABLED IN CONTROL PANEL LOOK UNDER WIRELESS SETUP IF ITS DISABLED RE ENABLE BY RIGHT CLICKING.

    1. Press wireless button. 2. left click the dialog box in the bottom right corner it will prob say wireless disabled etc. 3. HP wireless assist box should open if so its working and you should click on properties. 4. check all unchecked boxes and press apply or ok etc.5 you should now see in the top right corner of the HP wireless assist box an option to turn on wifi press it. 6. Try the wifi button it should work! If not sorry it did for me.

Are you able to see any available wireless networks?

Make sure the wireless radio is on, the wireless switch should be located above the keyboard, it has the picture of a satellite.

My wlan will not enable

Check that wireless service is running
XP: Click Start, click Run, type services.msc, then press Enter.
Scroll down to "Wireless Zero Configuration" and right click on it and select Properties. Set it to Automatic and not Disabled, and press the Start button, then click OK.
That should start the service.
7 (vista): Click Start, type services.msc, then press Enter.
Scroll down to "WLAN AutoConfig" and right click on it and select Properties. Set it to Automatic and not Disabled, and press the Start button, then click OK.
That should start the service.



To enable wireless adapter we need to go to device manager and enable it.
XP:
1. Right click on My Computer and click on properties.
2. Click on Hardware tab on system properties window.
3. Click on Device Manager
To go to device manager we need to click on the device manager button.
Now we can see all the hardware devices connected to the computer. To see the status of our wireless adapter click on network adapters.
4. Enable the Wireless adapter
To enable wireless adapter, right click on it and click on enable.
7 (vista):
  1. Open the Start Menu by clicking the Start button. Click on Control Panel.
  2. In the Control Panel, click on Network and Internet.
  3. In the Network and Internet panel, click Network and Sharing Center.
  4. In the Network and Sharing Center, click "Manage network connections" in the Tasks list on the left side of the window.
  5. The Network Connections manager will open. Right-click the icon labeled Wireless Network Connection and click Enable on the menu displayed.


The last step checks if you have the wireless switch on or off. Locate the wireless button (in the middle, above the keyboard). Try to toggle it, see if is says anything.

Turn on wireless

To turn the wireless on on your laptop:

1. Click on Start. Type Mobility in the Search box. Hit the enter key.

2. In the Search results under Programs you will see Windows Mobility Center. Click on it to open it.

3. You will see a button under "Turn Wireless On"

4. Click on it to enable your wireless.

Another way using a keyboard shortcut: Press the fn and F2 keys at the same time.

How can i do wireless connection..........................plz tell meeeeeeeeee

First, check if the wireless switch on the computer is ON.
Second, you should see a blue light on thwireless indicator.
Third, press and hold "Fn" key and press "F5" (this enables/disables wireless capability of the computer)
Last, try to detect wireless networks by going to START>CONTROL PANEL>NETWORK AND INTERNET/NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER/NETWORK CONNECTIONS>click on "connect or disconnect" and it will display available networks.

Dell Inspiron 6400 cant get wireless connection

The Wi-FI light turns on when wireless networking is enabled. To enable or disable wireless networking, press and hold the blue <Fn> key and press the <F2> key. The <Fn> key is located on the lower left hand side of the keyboard.

How to get hp wireless assistance

If you need to find the Wireless Utility to scan for available networks, it should be in Start > Programs under HP Wireless
