We have a kenmore oven/microwave combo. some foil paper was put into the microwave and started smoking. Nothing melted, just became discolored. however, the unit stopped working altogether. no lights, no power, no nothing. are there any fuses or a reset perhaps? thanks

If the internal fuse is good, it may be an open thermostat or thermal cutout on or near the magnetron or possibly on top of the cavity / body of the oven.

If it has a hood thermostat, that should read open, as opposed to the others, which should read closed.

If you or someone you know wants to look into this, we have *critical* safety, disassembly, and troubleshooting info at our site, and our link is at our listing here on FixYa: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

We even have a VIDEO on our site that shows you how to safely & easily remove the control panel assembly to send it for service.

You can probably find an exploded view by entering your FULL model number here: http://www.searspartsdirect.com

There may also be a "mini-manual" hidden inside the unit behind the control panel, which is very helpful when troubleshooting.

We're happy to help and we appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.
