42 inch AKAI plasma tv shows a dark gray screen with green on light. what should I do?
As it is under warranty .. it is better to contact the showroom where you purchased ...
if you dont have the receipt means also ok your name and other will be there with the dealer from which you have purchased ..
so just contact him and tell him when you have purchased that ...
and he will have the check with his records and get back with you for free service ...
thank you
bye
try to make use of your warranty ...
ok fine .... you can do one more thing you just gave the call directly to the akai customer care and tell your model and from the dealer from which you have purchased and tell them about your warranty period and also them about your misplacing of the receipt they may help you ...
this discoloration problem is may be due to the defect in CRT ...
so you must just contact the technician and get it repaired ...
as it is under warranty it is better to search the receipt again and get it replaced ...
as you have the warranty if that CRT have some manufacture defect means they will give you the new piece tv itself ...
so have a search again and just try talking again with the dealer and get it done ...
this may get you charged more so i am telling ...
as it is under warranty if you take it to other technician the seal will get breaked ... so after that if you get the receipt also it will not be void for the warranty ....
dont try to fix it yourself by opening it as it is a brand new one dont take great risks ...
take it to the technician only if you are not worried about the money means...
think correctly & take the decision..
try once again by talking with the dealer ...
some time ,somethings we need it to be practically done ....
but that s the sure thing that CRT has some defect ...
more than this i cant tell anything about the repairing the CRT thing .. as it is out of my knowledge ...
i think i must leave now
any way thank you
bye
if you rate the solution it would be helpful for me ...
thank you bye
ya you get the refund from fixya.....
i dont think any one can solve your problem ...
because some problems will be difficult to solve ...
but please rate the solution ....
i told you na you just gave a try speaking with the dealer again by sitting cool.....
as i told they will give you the free service ....
rate the solution please as far as your wish....

HI,
The best solution is to get it repaired.
ew troubleshooting steps you can try:
1)Do a hard reset by unpluging all the cords for 4hrs and then plug it back.
2)The
whacking test is to just bang or smack the set with your hand on the
back, side, top, etc., to see if there are loose connections or cold
solder joints inside that are acting up. If so, the banging should
knock them back to normal and the set should restore. You might have to
use some creative banging and some have had to put a book or magazine
under one corner to torque the chassis enough to get it to work
reliably.
Goodluck,
Please don't forget to rate the solution
Either u can remove the back cover and tighten the terminals and joints after cleanin them.

This is not an old tv. made in april 2007 and bought on 10/2007. It is still under a years warranty. I lost the receipt and they will not touch it. what are terminals and joints?
i would like other solutions, please!!!
I begged the manager to research this, he told me he could not go back past 30 days. i emailed the corporate offices of office depot and am now awaiting a reply. They could have been more helpful. I was quoted 3 exorbitant prices to fix it. unbelievable!!!!!
These people are very rude. They are the ones who told me receipt or no warranty work. They gave me the name of their warranty shop in my area. The shop quoted me an unrealistic price to even look at it and promised for it to be more according to what they found...$2000.00
If I had the money to fix it, i would't be asking "FixYA"
I paid for solutions, is this a rip off too?
Don't spend the fee I paid FixYa for a solution to this problem ($9.99) all in one place. I will report this rip off to my credit card company!!!!
