Embedded light sensor stays red all the time

I had a big clog in mine and took the back off to clear it. Ever since I reassembled it, the embedded dirt light has stayed on red, all the time. I took it apart again and the light will switch to green when I put my finger over the small metal sensor then remove it. Where should the little metal sensor be when the unit is reassembled?

The back cover is called the a micro/dust assembly. See #21 here:

The little sensor should be in the round recess in the top of that assembly. When you are putting the cover back on you have to use a pair of needle nose pliers to push the sensor into the round recess until it is snug. It is hard to do because the wires to the sensor are very short and you have to be careful not to break the wires on the sensor. The sensor is a little microphone that senses the noise of the dirt going through the EDF. The first time I did mine I didn't push it in hard enough and came out of the EDF recess and fell inside the vacuum body.

Testimonial: "This solved my problem! I had figured the sensor had to fit into the recess but I did not push it down snugly; I thought it just rested on top. THANKS"

How to fix sensor s12. red light for bag stays on even when vacuum bag is not full and the vacuum is clear

You most likely will need to change the Yoke assembly. There is a sensor built in that gets clogged with fine debris over time. This will take care of the problem.

Dirt finder sensor stopped working

I had the same problem with a hoover windtunnel 6200 - u5477-900. I removed the flexible hose from top of the plastic tube running vertically along the right side of the back of the vacuum. When I used a flashlight to look into the plastic tube, I could see a clog at the bottom, where the flexible hose curved frontwards towards the brushes. I then removed the 2 screws holding the vertical plastic tube to the vacuum. When I disconnected the plastic tube from the flexible hose at the bottom, I found a clog of dirt and dog hair. After removing the clog and reassembling, the clean / dirty light now moves back and forth from red to green.

Embedded dirt finder light stuck

The Hoover uses a small microphone that is positioned in the plastic housing that the end of the hose fits into, just behind the bag compartment. What happens is that when dirt comes up the hose and hits the 90 degree corner, just before it enters the bag, the microphone picks up the sound and transmits that info to the electonics that controls the lights. Sometimes the microphone will stick and the red light will stay lit. If you take a screwdriver and give the microphone area a sharp tap with the handle of the screwdriver, this will often jar the microphone and it will begin working again. If not, it may need to be replaced. NOTE: this function does not affect the cleaning efficiency of the vacuum. Your vacuum will still work normally whether the dirt sensor is working or not. It is a totally unrelated function to the vacuum itself.

Windsor Sensor Vacuum

Sounds like you have a clog, either in the hose, or the inlet down at the bottom. When there is a clog, the red light will come on and may also shut down to protect the motor.

Problem with embedded dirt finder

Take the hose off at the back of the vac, should just turn then pull oull, look down inside the tube that the hose was connected to, there is a sensor there and if it is coated over with dirt, then it can't work, Clean it off and the try it, if it still stays on, then you have a bad sensor, and if this is less then a year old, you have a one year warranty on this. Take it to a warranty shop and take proof of purchase with you.

Bissell ProHeat Carpet Steam Cleaner stopped spraying.

The problem was a clogged heating unit which is located in the lower handle. There are two clear hoses going up the inside of the left leg of the lower handle that go to the heater and to the in-line water switch all within the lower handle. I unplugged the metal heating unit water lines and electrical connections (label the connections as you take them apart if you have a hard time remembering things...there were seven connection in all be it water and/or electrical). Removed the heat unit out and then removed the 6 screws holding the heater cover. Inside was a white powdery pasty debris (lime deposit ?) and the water path was clearly blocked in four different places. I cleansed the water trough with a little water and soft toothbrush and several toothpicks then reassembled. If you need new washers go to Orchard or ACE hardware. Take the old rubber washers(they are red) with you for comparison. I didn't need new washers...I just gently cleansed them. I immediately ran clear water through the machine and actually cleaned the carpet with a water rinse only. Will go back and finish the carpet the right way tomorrow. I had only used my machine three times before this happend over a three year period. A friend told me to always rinse it two maybe three times with clear water after using it and before storage. This took me exactly 42 minutes to disassembly and reassemble. Cost savings is several hundred dollars since I have a 5 bdrm house and would need a professional cleaner to do the small dirty traffic lanes all around the house.

Embedded Dirt Finder green light won't come back on - stays red

The dirt sensor is a motion detector. After it gets dirty it will either stay red or stay green. You can have the vacuum serviced at your local vac shop and possibly get this fixed. Sometimes they are as good as new and sometimes they are not repairable. It will not effect anything else though.
