Check the thermal limit on the side of the heater housing and the blower thermal on the blower housing
the emement limit is at the top of the blower housing and will have 2 red wires going to it
the blower limit will have blue wires going to it
withe the power cord unpluged, remove the wires to these two limits and with a meter on rx 1 ect. read across each of these if you do not get a meter fluctuation , all the way to the right as you check the part os bad

Hello. Heating element's probably O.K. In addition to the breaker, there's probably a THERMAL fuse inside the unit. This will go if it get's too hot.

SOME thermal fuses reset themselves, and some don't. It's a safety issue. You'll probably need to "get inside the dryer" (not the drum - but the overall machine) to find it and check it for continuity (with an ohmmeter). There's probably a schematic inside the dryer that'll help you locate it.

I hope this helps.

Same problem with my Whirlpool Dryer: Model LER4634EZ2 which stopped heating. I checked the coils that was "OK" then I checked the fuse that was "OK" I replaced the Thermal Fuse and High Limit Thermostat then after starting the dryer the heat came on ... problem solved NO.... the dryer just kept running and running until I opened the dryer door. Not going to put 70 or so $$$ into this 10 year old dryer which up until 12/15/2011 worked fine.

My Whirlpool clothes dryer model GEW9200LW0 stopped drying completely. The drum turns but no heat. It began slowing down the heating process approx. 2 years ago. Any suggestions?

Electric Dryer Does Not Heat
  • If your Whirlpool electric dryer is having trouble heating, you should check all of the thermostats, the thermal cut-off, all fuses and the electric heating element for continuity and proper connection.

This morning my dryer stopped working when I put in a new load. It simply is not heating and the drum is not turning

YOU MAY HAVE A BREAKER PROBLEM. FLIP THE BREAKER BACK AND FORTH RAPIDLY. SECOND AND MOST COMMON THE WHITE THERMAL FUSE WITH BLUE WIRES TO IT HAS BROKE. LOCATED BEHIND THE LOWER FRONT PANEL. UNPLUG DRYER, REMOVE LINT FILTER, REMOVE LOWER PANEL, REMOVE THE LOWER DUCT ASSY. THIS IS THE PIECE THAT THE LINT FILTER GOES INTO. BEHIND THE DUCT IS THE WHITE THERMAL FUSE.

Whirlpool Gold Electric Dryer.

Hope your sitting down. There is not just heating elements in the dryer there are thermal switches that turn heating elements off & on like your house thermostat clicks off & on. Also there are overheating thermal switches to keep the elements from setting the dryer, clothes on fire. More than likely you overheating thermal switch has tripped, from lent in vent or pinched vent tube or normal failure. Some of these switches can be reset, others replaced. If you can not trouble shoot electrical circuits leave it to repairman. Switch $20.00 to $42.00 Labor service call cheaper to buy cheap new dryer. Could be heating element but most use only one with different inputs for heat. If your getting some heat not likely element.
