Hi no its only a CD RW, and not a CD/DVD-RW its just a CD writer and a dvd( rom )..read only memory which means it only reads dvd's but does not write them...hope this helps

I think that Teac DV-28e Is a CD/DVD-ROM only, and will not burn discs. Teac DW-28e is a CD RW/ DVD ROM unit, and will thus play and burn CDs, but will only play DVDs. Check your model numbers to confirm, and then consider exchanging units if you need to burn CDs.
if it is burning audio and video format it mean the burning is all right, u must choose some other application for burn data cd, like nero burning rom or alcohol etc.
Here's the newest driver for your burner. Go to Control Panel, then
Device Manager, then click on the + symbol next to disk drives, and
double click on the TEAC device. Click the Driver tab and press Update
Driver, then choose the 'Let me find the driver' option, and navigate
to the folder where you unzipped the file to. Double click and Install.
Reboot.

The drive can burn CD's, read CD's and also read DVD's. Everytime I try and burn a DVD I have an unrecognized drive and the properties always show no disk: The drive burns CD's ie;music, but cannot burn DVD it can only read DVD like you say!
