My fax is say ' fuser error ' then ' memory received'. What does this mean and how do I clear it? Andie B

Fuser error means the the fuser (the part that heats up and "fuses" the toner onto the paper) is not heating up properly. This usually requires the fuser to be replaced. The memory received indicator is telling you that the machine has received a fax transmission. It can not print it out however because of the fuser error. If the fuser is replaced then the faxes in memory will be printed.
Good Luck and Thank You for using Fixya.

SAGEM MF 5461 HSYNC printer error and Fuser Temp error

SAGEM 5401 / 5461 “PRINTER ERROR FUSER TEMP”
According to SAGEM this fault is caused by an incorrect operation of the fuser unit – the
machine did not heat up in time.
Solution:
Follow the keystrokes set out below, do not worry about what is on the display unless
stated to check. All letters referred to are for the keys on the alpha key pad to the right of
the control panel, under the plastic flap.
For the 5461:
Press down arrow, *, #, ok, 1, ok, stop (red button),
Press down arrow, #, T.
The machine returns to the error code. Switch the machine off for 10 seconds, switch
back on. If successful the machine will warm up and come ready.
Press down arrow, *, #, 0 (ZERO), ok, stop.
For the 5401:
Press down arrow, *, #, ok, 1, ok, stop.
Press down arrow, #, look on the display, press up arrow until “T>>PRINTER” is
displayed. Press ok. The machine returns to the error code. Switch the machine off for 10
seconds, switch it back on. If successful the machine will warm up and come ready.
Press down arrow, *, #, ok, 0 (ZERO), ok, stop.
If this is a recurring problem the firmware on the board may need to be upgraded, or there
is a physical fault with the fuser unit. Low voltage / power surges in the supply power to
the machine may also play a part in the occurrence of the error.
The firmware needs to be version 1.10.
To check the firmware version do the following:
5461:
Press down arrow, *, #, ok, 1, ok, stop.
Press down arrow, *, W
Firmware version is displayed. Press stop to clear screen.
Press down arrow, *, #, ok, 0 (ZERO), ok, stop.
5401:
Press down arrow, *, #, ok, 1, ok, stop
Press *
The trace lists will be printed, firmware version is after PRT, as in example below.
In this example, the printer firmware is: PRT V 1.5
It is older than V 1.10 and the printer firmware need to be upgraded.
The firmware can only be upgraded at Copy Type Electronics or at SAGEM in France.
Therefore the entire machine will have to be returned to us for the upgrade.

How do I fix this?

please have the check on fuser for damage. Could be a thermistor, thermo switch, or faulty heaters. To clear error, service morefunction/clear/error/ok/ exit service mode and cycle power.

fuser over temp means the fixing assy has exceeded the manufactures maximum temp limits

Fuser error codes cannot be reset by power cycling the machine eventhough that is what the display tells you to do. In order to reset thefuser error code you must enter the service mode & reset the code.To enter the service mode:
press"Additional Functions" button (looks like a picture of a head with a star inside)
press the #2 and #8 at the same time (simultaneousley)
press "additional functions" again
The display should show a choice of
copier,feeder,sorter,fax,or board service modes
Select copier
select clear
select ERR
press OK
Turn power off & back on.
****IMPORTANT****
Afterclearing error stay at the machine to see if it comes to ready. Thefuser assy can reach 139 degrees C.(Water boils @ 100C) The error canonly be cleared through the service mode because a technician shouldinspect the fuser to verify there is nothing faulty that could possiblystart a fire. If you enter the service mode & clear the error, power cycle the machine & during warm up the machine throws a codeagain- turn it off, unplug it & call a tech for fuser repair.
Good Luck!!

Canon MF 5550 Fuser error

More than likely you have a fuser failure.
either contact canon or whoever you purchased the machine from.
The most likely solution will be to replace the fuser unit.
