Check the ink cartrige or toner cassette, because the problem could be caused by lack of toner or ink.
If your printer is InkJet - some of the color cartrige's nozzle could be clogged. You can choose to buy new one or to put the cartrige in warm watter to unclog the nozzle, but you have to be careful.
Try to change DPI and check if there is a difference between the copies.
I am not sure your printer cartrige with head or not, and it is color or black, it there any color lost, in general you may try
1) if the cartridge seperate print head, find a cartridge spacial clean liquor or steam water and take out the ink cartridge, put a little into the ink hole and back the ink box test it,
2) if printer ink with head, take out and put in team water (just touch water surface to the head hole for 1 Hr. and then put back and test.
3) check printer manu adjust darkness to darker.
Cartriges have a shelf life. It's printing in blue either because it has dried up or is out. Different cartriges have different timelines but if you haven't been using the printer often, it could have dried up or is simply out of ink. I would suggest first to try cleaning the head of the cartrige where the ink comes out with alcohol and a Q-tip and then if that doesn't work, buying a new black cartrige.
first of all the most important auestion is have you used compatible ink cartridges or genuine ones, because the print head clogs up with compatible ones, i really doubt that the cartridge you installed is damaged because i haven't come across this and i am a canon technician, i know this model well
I used some less expensive generic ink cartridges on my RX500 and had a similar experience with the black. If you're already using the Epson brand, done the head cleaning, realignment and nozzel checks, I'm not much help. Try Epson's support at their web site.
