WWKD -- Amana Heavy Duty Dryer LG8409W2 is a gas dryer. NO HEAT means that gas is not being supplied to burner. The gas flame burner is not working. There are several parts that might need replacement. However, most likely solution is to open lower front panel and remove lint contamination from lower section. Unplug AC from wall. Remove both (2) nut-drive or flat blade screws. Use vacuum cleaner to remove lint. Write back if you need more help. -- SWT
Hi, to tell if it is gas or elect, just pull it out some and look behind it. A gas dryer will have a galvanized pipe with a gas flex line and shut off valve going to it. If electrical, it will have a large diameter cord plugged into a large round plug much different then a regular receptacle. It sounds as though it is a electric dryer as it is running. A gas dryer will have a regular plug on it to. If no heat, it could be a number of things that are wrong. The heat strips are located at the rear of the dryer behind the panel. You will need to unplug it and pull it out to do this. Give yourself lots of room with a strong light to work with. The heating element has several coils of wire lined up in a vertical position. Look them over very good for a break in any part of these coils, look very carefully to find one. If you do, you will need a new one. Take the model, serial, and name to a appliance parts house to get one. If by chance it is gas, make sure there is gas to the unit and the valve is open. Shut off the valve and take loose the line. Crack open the vale a little to hear and smell the gas. There is not much you can check on a gas dryer but this, that's about it. It may be the ignitior, a thermostat ect. I am sure you have a electric dryer, so check the element and clean all of the lint from the unit. Get back to me on this, so we can go further if needed.
Sincerely,

Hi,
If you are having problems with your gas dryer not heating the most common problem is that the ignitor goes bad. Even though it glows sometimes it is still not working properly.
