for several months the ticking has increased to almost a knocking when the fridge is operating normally, and when water is run off it jerks on and off so severely it sounds like something will fall off at the rear. also the fridge and freezer stopped working for a few days and i turned it off for a couple of hours and it fixed itself after a day or so

wrong. read my description the fridge turns on and off in its normal operation it sets up a terrible knocking in the water pipes and it gets worse when the water dispenser is operating.

How do i turn the volume down

There is no way to "turn down" the noise on any washer other than to balance the load of the washing machine tub as it spins. Typically the washer increases noise due to spinning during the rince and dry cycle. This noise is a consequence of the rapid spin rate needed to dry the clothes using centripetal acceleration and removing the water.

Whirlpool Dishwasher will fill water then stops

If it fills with water properly then stops, and especially if there is a humming noise, it is possible that

- motor start capacitor has failed
- drive belt has slipped or snapped
- belt tensioner spring has broken

Whirlpool fridge

Bad wiring or faulty sensor would cause the relay to be activated and tell the solonoid to open whenever it likes. I would replace the door switch or see if it is sticking otherwise you may be looking at control board problems

The old capacitor should have values listed once you remove it.

With those values just find an exact replacement

Whirlpool S21S4D Ice maker stopped working Now fridge stopped working Frezer OK Defrosted ice on condenser and fridge working for time being! Do you think its the mother board?

You have a defrost problem going on. Either the defrost timer, the defrost t-stat or the defrost heater. Remove the back freezer wall and you will see the evaporator coils. This is where the heater and t-stat are located. One of these is more than likely the problem.

Whirlpool Duet 9100 starts cycle then stops & wont drain

F2 code is a drain issue. If you are not using he detergent you can cause slow draining and then you will get the code. Try using less detergent. Also, try disconnecting the power to the washer to reset controls.
