Tomtom one will not turn on. Will eventually come on for 2 seconds then goes off again. Power cords work on other devices and outlets work on other devices. Have tried repeatedly to 'reset' and hold down 'on' button at same time without results. I have not heard back from the 'expert' at FixYa!!!!!

Powers on then off is usually a sign that the battery in the unit is no longer holding a charge, i would suggest that you check the battery and make sure that it is holding a charge and if not, change the battery out, these gps units have a dead circuit in them, if the battery is no good then usually the unit will not turn on, also for testing purposes if you pull the battery then try powering up the unit it may turn on, if this happens then you know the battery needs to be replaced.

A battery place i usually the best bet, someplace like a batteryman or some other place that can rebuild batteries, they will usually have a repair shop. If you still can't find a place try a hobby store, not for the battery but they will usually know of someplace that rebuilds or repairs batteries. Hope this helps

Sony Bravia built in DVD player wont accept the discs - why is this?

Performing a power reset
1. Turn off the television.
2. Unplug the television power cord from the electrical outlet.
3. Let the television remain without power for 60 seconds.
4. Plug the power cord back into the electrical outlet.
NOTE: If the television is plugged into a power strip or surge protector, remove it from the power strip or surge protector and plug it directly into the wall outlet. If the issue is resolved, the problem is with the power strip or surge protector and not the television.
5. Turn on the television.
How to establish an HDMI connection between a TV and other device.
Follow the steps below if the HDMI® connection between your TV and other device is not working:
1. Make sure both the TV and other device are turned on.
2. While turned on, unplug the power cords for the TV and device from the electrical outlet.
3. Disconnect the HDMI cables from the TV and other product.
4. Wait 60 seconds.
5. While the HDMI cables are disconnected, plug the power cords back into the electrical outlet.
6. Turn on the TV.
7. Re-connect the HDMI cables.
8. Turn on the HDMI-connected product.

The TV should now detect the HDMI signal from the connected device and operate normally. If there is still a problem, disconnect the HDMI cable from both products and then reconnect it in the opposite direction. In some situations this has been reported to resolve connection issues.

Printer goes on & off not staying on but a couple seconds

Follow these steps to make sure that all the power systems work correctly.
  1. Unplug the power cord from the electrical outlet, or the power strip or surge suppressor. Power module Power cord c00745315.gif Illustration: Power module c00057913.jpg Illustration: Power cord
NOTE: The power cord detaches from the power module. The term power supply refers to both the power module and the power cord.
  2. Carefully inspect the power supply for visible damage. c01733891.gif If the power cord or power module shows any damage, contact HP to replace the power supply.
  3. Disconnect the power supply from the back of the product.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds, and then plug the disconnected power supply into an electrical outlet. Do not use a power strip or surge suppressor. c01733891.gif If the green light (LED) on the power supply does not light up, contact HP to replace the power supply.
  5. Reconnect the power supply to the product.
  6. Press and quickly release the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn on the product.
  7. If the product still does not turn on, connect the product to an electrical outlet in another room, and then quickly press and release the Power button (c01602202.gif ) to turn on the product.
    • If the product turns on , the electrical outlet in the original room caused the issue.
    • If the product still does not turn on , continue with the next solution.
Solution three: Make sure that other devices are not causing the issue Follow these steps to make sure that devices plugged into the HP product are not causing the problem
  1. If the parallel and universal serial bus (USB) ports of the HP product have other devices plugged into them, unplug those devices.
  2. Press the Power button (c00636182.gif ) to turn on the HP product.
  3. Monitor the HP product to see if it turns off again.
  • If these steps resolved the issue , there is no need to continue troubleshooting.
  • If the issue persists , see the next step.
Solution four: Service the product If you have completed all the steps listed above and are still experiencing a problem, service the product.

Doesn' t turn on

1. Connect the TomTom to the USB for power (green light should be on).
2. Hit the reset button on the bottom of the device - you should feel it depress slightly.
3. Press firmly and hold the power button and count to 10.
5. Try this a couple of times if it doesn't work the first time.

Even if your battery is ****, the power connection has a pass-through, so you can still use the device as long as its connected to the charger.
