I have a Delonghi toaster oven...model # XU18ST. The top front heater element does not heat up on any of the settings for toaster, bake or broil. All the other three work fine. Could this be a switch problem and not just the element itself? Ed L.

I don't expect my solution to be fixing a full size kitchen oven. This is a counter toaster/oven and my specific question was not answered. Ed L.

You've got the best scenario. Open up the oven by removing the appropriate screws, and unplug the power cord of course. Just disconnect the working element and move it over so it uses the connections for the other element. Power things up with just the one element. This will show the working element continues to work in the new position and is a clear indication that you need an additional element.
This could as easily be a problem with a switch or the element. You'll know after testing.

Hi,the problem is either from the wiring that supplies the heater element,it might be burnt,or the heating element is broken or burnt, you have to take apart the oven ,remove the element bracket so you can be able to check and replace the burnt component,

Thanks and take care

  • Anonymous Jun 11, 2010

My first personal response was the element also, until I saw how the wiring itself ran to each element. I do have the unit apart and I don't see any distinguishable burnt area on the element itself, nor any noticeable burnt area around the switches, wiring, connections, diodes, etc. I just need to be sure I spend the money in the right area, ie; element!

Kenmore oven C880 676239J2 is not heating up... is the only fuse the one located under the light on top of the control panel?

I doubt that fuse is used for the heating element. If you can unplug the element in the oven, an ohmmeter should show you if it has opened up (burned out) on you. Turn off the 220 breaker in the breaker box before doing this even though there should be no voltage with the controls turned off. (There usually will still be 110 to the top of the unit.)

I need the manual of my haas microwave oven HMW 43 W I want to know can i bake in my oven or not

m/w do not bake they heat up water molecules in the items that you put in them . unless it is a m/w, convection oven that has a heating element and a convection fan in addition to m/w components in it usually a metal fan visible protruding from back of inside the cavity. also m/w , convection ovens are ether over the range or together with convection oven in the wall combos and cost quite a bit more then counter top. $250 +

My old GE oven (JSP38G052BG) won't bake or broil. It start then stop after 1 or 2 minutes. The heating elements get worm. Can you help me please

Hello ediben11.

If your oven's bake or the broiler heating elements won't heat but the range burners still work;the clock may be set for a timed or self-cleaning cycle. So,make sure to check the clock buttons and the knobs are set properly.
*If your clock has a knob that says "push for manual" then push the knob in after that, try the baking and broiling elements again.

*If it still does not work properly, you may have a defect in the thermostat/selector switch/common wiring.

*If the oven does not have a separate bake or broil selector switch; then the thermostat is probably the problem. It is not easy to check the selector switch or thermostat for proper operation. If you suspect a problem in this area, call a qualified appliance repair technician.

Hope this helps.

Microwave not heating

In all likelihood the Magnetron, or Power Diode has failed, or perhaps even the Power Supply. You need to have it serviced by a reputable service centre/man. Ensure you get a firm "Quote" before proceeding, and remember these days the cost of repair can equal or exceed the price of a new one.

When oven is in on postion oven element does not come on but broil element does;when in broil position nothing happens and indicator light is dim when in off position but burns bright when in oven...

sounds like you have a bad control board.or you have crossed the broil element wire witha bake element wire.these are the first things to check

Wont heat

Hi!

Here are two instances when this happens---
  • When the food you're baking is done on top but not on the bottom--or when baking just takes far too long to finish--the bake element may be burned out.

You may get fooled into thinking it's working, because the oven is hot inside. But many electric ovens use the broil element, too, during the preheat and bake cycles. So the food may be getting heated only by the broil element, which causes poor baking results.

If the bake element is burned out, replacing it should solve the problem. Otherwise, you need to further troubleshoot the oven's electrical system to locate the defective wire or component.

  • When the temperature is consistent but too high or too low, it could be one of several different things. First check to see if the thermostat sensing bulb has come loose from its holder. It could be lying on the floor of the oven or resting on the heating element. This would cause the oven to not heat correctly.

If the thermostat bulb is not dislodged, it's likely that the thermostat or sensor is either mis-calibrated or defective.

Electronic ovens with a digital display use a sensor to monitor oven temperature. To solve temperature problems for these models, you may need to replace the sensor. On some digital-display models, you can calibrate the temperature using the key pad. See your operator's manual for details.

Ovens without a digital display often use a mechanical system for controlling temperature. On many of these units, you can remove the thermostat knob and adjust the knob itself to more accurately represent the actual setting of the thermostat.

If, when you remove the knob, there's a screw on the back of it with a small calibration plate, you can loosen the screw, adjust the plate, then tighten the screw again. If the knob isn't adjustable, and the oven temperature is off by more than 30 to 40 degrees, you need to replace the thermostat to solve the problem.
If you find this solution helpful then do rate this solution.

Thanks

Toaster Failure

It may be the heater element or thermostat / switch.

I would contact LG and see if they offer parts for it.

The contact info is in the owner's manual, which is available here:
