I have a Canon Powershot A590 while downloading pictures from camera to a file on my computer I noticed some pictures I did not want to download and cancelled the download from the computer file. (It said 23 our of nearly 100 pictures would be cancelled. When I went back to my camera the message screen on camera was "No Images". I did not format the disk or take any further pictures. I have been told that my pictures may have been placed in a hidden folder on the disk. If so how can I restore the pictures? Thanks, Richard

You should have let the download complete and then delete the pics from their location on your computer. You can try using a separate card reader to see if your pics show up. You can also take the card to a store like Walmart that has a Kodak picture kiosk machine. Your pics may show up if you insert your card.

Canon PowerShot A590 IS problem downloading images to a windows vista machine

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo management program such as Picasa ( http://picasa.google.com ).
