Thread bunches under the material

When i try to embroidery the tread bunches under the material

  • Physcocat Apr 12, 2008

Not only does my thread bunch but my bobbin thread comes up thorough my embroidery. I have tried everything to change this. It used to work great. It is my understanding that now you cannot even get your 7570 worked on beacuse if it needs parts there are none.

There ARE still parts for your 7570 - amazing how rumors can get around!

Could be any number of things - from something as simple as a thread caught somewhere in the upper/lower tensions to the tension assembly to timing to any number of other things? You may have already tried some of these - hope this helps:

  1. Try "flossing" your upper tension - this is nothing more than running a heavyweight thread (such as upholstery or 12 weight thread) through the threading paths. Grasp the thread at the beginning of the threading path and the end coming through the needle and "FLOSS" (back and forth - just like you do your teeth). This will usually pull through anything that is gently stuck.
  2. Pretty much the same thing for the bobbin thread - if you're comfortable doing so, loosen the tension screw on the side of the bobbin case to make sure there aren't any little bits of thread fuzz stuck under the tension plate on the side of the bobbin case.
  3. Also remove the needle plate to allow you to better see the upper part of the bobbin system - if there are any bits of thread, etc. stuck in there, you may be able to see them and pull out with tweezers (turn machine off before you do this so the tweezers don't accidentally come into contact with anything).

If this doesn't work, you'll need to have a sewing machine tech look at it (I would recommend a Pfaff-trained tech as they're going to be the most familiar with your machine). The 2140/2144/2170 use most of the same parts - even the new CV still uses some of the same parts.

Good Luck,
Kim

Thread bunching up ? What type thread should i use ?

Where is the thread bunching up?Make sure you have the correct thread for the needle size and material. Make sure that the thread is not old and that the needle is not bent. also, check the top tension in relation to the material being used. You could clean out the feed dogs in case there is lint jammed in there too. :)

I have mc9900 janome when trying to embroidery on t-shirt material threads bunch up in back and I end up with holes in shirt

Are you using a fabric stabilizer to prevent the t-shirt fabric from stretching?

Also, be sure to Always Raise the presser foot when threading the top thread. Knots could be bird nests.

Cotton is loose/looping under material?

Sounds like bird nesting.
The #1 thing is to install a brand new needle (old, worn, nicked, or bent needles can create a lot of havoc).

Remove all the thread from the machine. RAISE the presser foot and rethread from the beginning verifying that it is threaded correctly. Make sure the bobbin is loaded and threaded in the bobbin case properly.

Having trouble with tension on my Husqvarna Viking E 20

Be sure to RAISE the presser foot BEFORE threading the upper thread. (Remove the upper thread and rethread from the beginning.) Upper thread malfunctions commonly occur if it is not threaded correctly or the thread is not seated in the tension disk properly.

Install a brand new needle if you haven't already done so.

If it continues, this information about bird nesting could be helpful:

My machine bunches tread on the bottom of the fabric when sewing. What am I doing wrong. This machine is new to me.

thread bunching under material is an indication that the needle thread is not at the correct tension
tighten up the tension setting until the result is where the both treads meet at the center of the materials being sewn
practice on pieces of scrap until you get it right

Bobbin tread bunches and jams machine

If the bobbin is inserted with the thread spinning the wrong direction this will cause "birdnesting" - thread build up under needle plate, you need to cut thread to get the item off machine. flip the bobbin over into the case and try again. Also make sure you remove ALL thread caught up in "Birdsnest" when they happen.

Help problems with Bobbin and tread

I found that if the bobbin is not threaded correctly or if the upper thread is not adjusted properly, it will bunch on the bottom. Also, if the stabilizer is not firm enough for the material it will bunch.

after 8 years of sitting, the machine needs to go to the shop so that areas that are inaccessabe to the sewer can be cleaned and serviced by the tech. also check the upper threading of the machine. the tension is changed if threaded incorrectly. bunching under the material is caused by several different reasons. I would first have the machine cleaned and serviced by the tech, and let them know it has been 8 years since use. we all begin walking by taking one step at a time.
