You didn't mention whether you had a jam to begin with but I will assume you did.

I would first try unplugging power completely since most machines don't really 'turn off' with the power switch or command sent from your PC so the error code might simply not be clearing.

Printers use a couple of different methods to detect paper jams; measure the time difference between the initial feeding of a sheet and when it reaches a small (and delicate) plastic flag or a photo cell that uses reflected light to detect the transported paper.

The flag could be jammed (or snapped off), the components responsible for detecting the paper could have failed or a photo cell obscured so it can non longer 'see' the paper.

There are only very few screws to remove in lower cost printers and the tab-slot construction goes together much easier than it comes apart; look well before prying.

First I congratulate you for fixing your problem all by your self without needing the help of HP Support. Well i can't really tell what could be the problem because there are many factors for that problem. But here are the things you can check: - check the front panel of the printers for any error msg like "paper jam, carriage jam, out of paper, etc.", that may cause it to spooled or stuck in queque - check the connectivity. If you are using wireless, make sure that your signal is stable - computer related errors: make sure that there is no conflicting programs or viruses that may interfere with the printing. Make sure the paper try is properly attached. Try to unplug the power of your pinter and the USB cable for about 2-3 minutes. Restart your computer. Plug the USB and power to the printer then turn it back on.

Clearing paper jam

To get a paper jam that can't come out of the back place your hand under the front panel and lift up both the scanner lid and the scanner base. This is where there is access to the ink cartridges. You can move the print head over to the right and pull out the paper.
