Garage door opener won't work

I have a Craftsman garage door opener that won't work. I changed the batteries and that did nothing. Problem is, there is no other way into the garage - no other door and no windows. Are there manuals online? Suggestions? Thanks!

Do you mean that your remote won't work or that the opener doesn't work. I assume you changed the batteries in the remote. Does the wall pad operate the door?

Is there power to the garage?

You should have installed a emergency key release !, it,s a cylinder that you put a key into and pull out a cable thats attached to your emergency release inside the garage , right now you would have been in already , but since you never installed one lets deal with the problem at hand , answer me this : do you have power inside the garage ,are you certain that the breaker is on ,did you have any recent power failures ?, because the circuit board on your machine could be fried from a close lightning stike , and i,ve seen it a thousand times , also your capacitor on your machine may be shot ! is your door wood or steel? if its wood drill out a 3 inch hole saw hole on the top panel either to the left or right of the center wooden cross member , now get a flashlight and look for a emergency relese rope , after you have located it,make yourself a coathanger with a hook at the end ,tug at the rope until your able to pull at the handle thats attached to the rope once you are able to release the door from the carriage assembly keep pressure on the handle and have someone else lift the door and when you want to fix the hole you made just simply glue the circle cutout back in place , good luck and do what i say to get in , please leave a nice rating if i was able to help you ,sincerely glenn

SOURCE: Craftsman Garage Door Opener Won't Open

When mine did this, it was because the nylon gears that drive the chain had stripped. My wife had to live without the opener for a week or more, but I was able to find a new gear kit online and replace the damaged gears. It wasn't difficult.
The other option is to buy a new opener.

Make sure the battery is good. If it still wont open the door the keypad is bad.

Both remotes won't work for Craftsman garage door opener model 139.53672SRT1

You will need to purchase a new remote with the same model number as your old ones. When you get this you will find that you can program the new one with one of the old ones but not the other. Remove the battery from the bad remote and discard it.

If that keypad quit after working since 1997 and a new battery didn't get it going it has just gone bad. The model number listed for your opener is now 53876.

The inside button is hard wired. The keypad is a small radio transmitter. If the battery in the keypad is good and it doesn't work when you put in the code it has probably just quit.

Craftsman Model 139.53684 Keyless entry doesn't work

The remotes and keypad use the receiver which is part of the logic board.'t The button on the wall is hardwired and doesn't use the receiver. You might pull the logic board and check for bad connections on the printed circuit.
