Tv stop working

We have a 52"rca rear projection tv. It was working fine and the picture went out and there was smoke came from the back. could the problem be the projection lamp? if not what could it be?

That model is famous for bad flyback which is what I believe is your problem as well. The flyback is the HV transformer.

UNPLUG UR TV FIRST go to the back of ur tv on the right there should be a panal that has three screws or more this is were the power switch board is . remove it and check that there's no black marking's on it if there is that the problem

WHEN I TURN T V ON THE PICTURE BLINK ON & OFF RCA

I had the same problem. I went to the complaints board and found Elaine!! This wonderful woman is definatley my hero!! Just take the back off the tv, and with a blow dryer, blow all the dust off!! Wahla!! Magic, the tv works just fine, and you have no tv repair man to spend all your hard earned money on!! Thank you again Elaine!!

You have bad convergence IC's.. If your not experienced in troubleshooting electronics or soldering, you should have a trained tech take a gander at the set. Its not worth risking life and limb to save a few bucks, Good Luck
