That's not true. I replaced my laptop screen for $120. my laptop cost close to $700. (Asus EEE PC900) you can go to smartmicrousa.com or call them and ask if they have the screen you need. they had mine and I looked for MONTHS before I found this place. Supprizing enough it wasnt hard to replace AT ALL. You can look up how to replace a laptop screen on you tube. That's how i did it, so dont go buy another laptop just fix yours. Good luck : )

Re: repair computer screen
Anger managemnt classes might help, though owning a computer it will never stick for long hehe
Seriously though, when an LCD is damaged due to impacts etc, then there is only one repair method, replace the LCD. If the screen is still in a working condition, then thank your lucky stars.
If it is still running apart from the white dot, the best thing to do is to learn to live with it if possible, depending on the size of the dot of course. Laptop screens can cost nearly as much as the laptop to have replaced. You may get lucky and be able to find a laptop on eBay to salvage a screen from.

Your TV is DLP projection TV. DLP is Digital Light Processing. Digitally processed light coming out of DMD (Digital Micro mirror Device) is projected on the TV screen. This DMD is made of thousands of tiny mirrors & the size is about 0.7 inch. These mirrors are fixed with tiny hinges for its movement. They reflect light as per processed signal. DLP is invented by Texas Instruments. When there are dots on the screen, that means the tiny mirrors representing the dots are stuck in its position. If the dots are few & the viewing is bearable, just leave as it is. If the dots are more than bearable then you will have replace the DMD chip which is quite costly.
white dot is from a failure in the dlp chip. it controls 1000s of tiny mirrors which help make up your pix, when the mirrors get stuck a white dot appears. over time more will pop up. Probably in the $300-$500 range to have someone repair.
not a thing you can do = your lucky the screen is still working , leave it be~ replace with new screen when you can for safty you can always place a small pice of clear tape over it, wont improve txt but it will stop dirt getting in and might give you longer life with screen.
