SOURCE: maytag over the range microwave model mmv5165baw

Ours runs for 2 minutes and turns off for twenty then "resets". Gee I'm So glad I didn't buy the one that was $70 cheaper(NOT) that one would probably still work! Had this only one year and it's the Last Maytag item we will ever rely on!
Good luck finding a fix, it's a common problem apparently!

SOURCE: Maytag Microwave, Model MMV5000BAB. Discrepancies

remove the outer cover and unplug unit, then discharge the high voltage capacitor and check its capacitance with a capacitor checker, then check the high voltage diode in this circuit also,if they open up the high voltage doubler circuit won't produce the high voltage necessary to operate the magnetron tube to heat the food contents, also the magnetron can be going bad or can be loose setting up a vibration in the unit producing the hum also, your control board also has a relay in this unit that can also affect operation of unit heating and lighting

Mmv5165bas vent fan will not stop running

Check to see if there's a relay providing power to the fan. If there is, the contacts might be sticking in the closed position. Assuming that this is an over-the-range unit, disconnecting the vent fan completely might not be a good idea as heat/steam from foods cooking on the range would more likely damage the microwave.

We changed the charcoal filter & reset it. The vent fan still does not run. I cannot turn the vent on by pressing the vent button but the micro still heats up. What happened to the fan?

follow this steps and fix iT. God bless you

  1. Exhaust fan motorIf your exhaust fan motor is not running, there are a couple of things that you can check involving the motor to locate the problem. After removing the fan motor, you can manually attempt to turn the fan blades with your hand. If the fan motor is working properly, the blades should spin effortlessly. If this does not occur and the blades are taught, the motor will need to be replaced. Secondly, the fan motor itself can burn out due to time and usage. Using an ohm meter, the exhaust fan motor should read open for continuity. If it does not, then the fan motor has expired and will need to be replaced.
  2. ThermostatAnother part that could cause the microwave exhaust fan to not work is a faulty thermostat. A thermostat gauges the air temperature, which activates the exhaust fan when required. If this part becomes flawed, the exhaust fan will not energize and the thermostat will need to be replaced.
  3. Main control boardIf your exhaust fan is still not working and the microwave fan motor, wiring, and thermostat are operating accurately, the root cause could be with the main control board. Replace the main control board.

It could be that the fan button is sticking or a contact has welded itself closed therefore its getting power all the time.

Exhaust fan runs continuously on Maytag microwave. Please help

> MMV5165BAB hood vent fan runs continuously

You probably have either a shorted base thermostat on the base of the chassis of the oven or a shorted fan relay on the control circuit board.

There should be a "mini-manual" (tech sheet) hidden inside the unit behind the control panel or hidden on the left side behind the grille, which is very helpful when troubleshooting, testing, and locating components.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

You can find helpful exploded view diagrams and order parts by entering your full model number from the tag on the oven here.

We have the service / repair manual for this model and have uploaded it to our site here for free download to help you.

The base thermostat (which I believe has thinner pink and yellow wires attached, but not thicker black wires) should read normally open. If it shows continuity (virtually zero ohms or shorted) then it is bad.

Otherwise, I would say you have a shorted fan relay on the control circuit board.

We regularly repair such control units for customers nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in about a week or so with a one-year guarantee.

Feel free to contact me directly (and please remind me of your full model number from the tag on the unit) for more information & help.

We're happy to help you with free advice and we'd appreciate your thoughtful rating of our answer.

Model # MMV5165BAW Error code - E-63

The first thing I would suggest is a hard reset. Unplug the unit for a minute or so. Then plug it back in, set the clock and try again.

If that doesn't work, leave it unplugged for maybe an hour. Then let us know if the hard reset does not fix it.

Here's the explanation of that code:
E-63 T1 Max Time error. PCB assembly.

If you think the problem is on the control panel, we repair these nationwide by mail for $39.95 postpaid in most cases in about a week or so.
