Hi,
I just bought a Canon MX700 printer/fax/scanner. The fax was working fine until about the time I ungraded my macOS to 10.5 and also upgraded my canon drivers. Could be unrelated. Now two things happen. When dialing, the fax dial tone is a busy signal both when plugged directly into the phone jack (replacing phone line) and also when it is run through the splitter. When it is run through the splitter, the phone line does not work. Suggestions?
Hi,
Buisy signal indicates that there is problem with your connection. Please try unpluging all the cable connections and wait for 30min and then plug them all back and make sure that all the cables are connected firmly.
Goodluck,
Please dont forget to rate the solution.
You can also try uninstalling the drivers first and then install them back again..

You have a problem with the drivers that you've installed.

No connection is fine.
yeah, I upgraded drivers and still same issue. Could it possibly be the phone service? When I plug in the fax, there is just silence on the phone and I can't dial out now with the fax plugged in.
can I fax through a lan connection and bipass the phone line?

Hi there,
I tested the phone wire by plugging in another phone with the wire and the splitter and both work fine and also simultaneously. So connection and wires are fine. when I plug the same cord back into the fax, then both connections no longer work. thanks for your help.
I called Canon and they helped me figure it out. Thanks for your help.
