Did you try turning the Radio Button on. I had the same problem for awhile until I realized the 1st Silver button on the Keyboard that turns on the Radio signal. Thats how you get the wireless capatability to work. Try that.

I wouldn't really even fool with this laptop. I had the exact same one. In the midst of my typing, the keys started popping off! Not only that but when I called the manufacturer, I had to get a computer store to argue with them because they refused to replace it, even though I was only one month into the warranty! I still had 11 months left! Not only that, but the charger that came with the laptop stopped working after the second month! And I still, to this day, have not been able to find a compatible charger. The manufacturer does not even carry the laptop anymore! My advice is to pass this computer and manufacturer up completely. Their server sucks, and so does their machine. By the way, I have been searching for a charger for over two years now.

Do i need a wireless router if i have westell 6100f

Yes. The Westell 6100f is not a wireless modem, therefore, you will need to get a wireless router to connect wireless computers.

Or if your ISP is Verizon and you want a wireless modem/router, you may contact them and replace the Westell 6100f with a Westell Versalink 327w, or Westell 7500, or an Actiontec.

Hope this helps!

I have charter internet with a modem and i have a westell 327w wireless router/modem. How can i connect the two modems to work wirelessly?

I think the Westell Router/modem that you have must be the modem for the DSL connection.
Charter is a cable internet service provider.
You can not use 2 modems connected to each other.
You have a charter modem , you can purchase a wireless router only.
That will work.

Changing from DSL to Road Runner Turbo

I'm sorry to say but you cannot bypass the modem capability of the DSL Westell Modem/router because that is really made to function as a DSL modem and a router at the same time, so the best way to make everything work here since you change from DSL to Cable internet just need to get a wireless router like a Linksys WRT54G that can make everything work again like before.....

Westell model 327w

you can run another ethernet cable from your westell modem to your laptop. hence, if you want your laptop to connect wirelessly, it must have a wireless card/adapter inside. if it already has a wireless adapter, it should automatically detect your wireless network and you just need to connect to it (note: you need to enter the correct wireless security/network key if you have enabled it on your modem). by default the serial number is the ssid of the router and the wireless security is disabled. but if you are not sure of your wireless security, log on to the modem's web user interface by typing http://192.168.1.1 on your web browser's address. then go to the wireless section and verify your wireless settings from there.

hope this'll help you.

ciao!

Westell Versalink, model 327W

if you are using the USB port of the modem, you should be able to see your modem while you are online, but if you are connect through ETHeRNET, you wont be able to see the modem on your device manager.

here is a USB port

Remote access through a Westell Wirespeed Versalink model B90-327W15-06

Garbow,

You need to setup a feature called "Port Forwarding." Do you know what program you will use to access your desktop remotely? I recommend windows windows remote desktop or VNC programs.

The link below is a complete walkthrough on how to enable port forwarding for windows remote desktop from a westell 327.

http://www.portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Westell/D90-327W15-06/Remote_Desktop.htm

There is an alternative option called a DMZ which you could use. Let me know if you need further assistance.

You'll need to go into the administrative interface of the router and enable the wireless network and then you should be able to see if from any laptop/PC with a wireless networking card in it.

Hook up westell 327w to linksys router

the wireless won't work. i have the same problem. westell modems aren't compatible with wireless function on some laptops therefore routing signal through a wireless router allows that. it can be done, i've done it but after modem was reset having issues. keep searching it can be done...

thanks for the vague and non-informative answer though whoever that was.
