My TV has gone haywire. Suddenly the volume control from the remote started working intermittently, and then the volume shot all the way up without the volume button being touched. I couldn't adjust the volume using the buttons on the TV either. It would work fine one minute, then go haywire the next. Also, it won't let me change the source using the Input button on the remote and I can't shut the power off using the remote. The TV is hooked up to a cable box and a TiVo. Both those remotes can control the TV and are experiencing the same problems. I can turn the TV on and off using the button on the TV, but that's about it. Very bizarre behavior. Can you help?
Check the remote control for its infrared emission. Check it with fresh batteries. Check it by pressing all the keys. You can detect the presence of infra-red emission from the remote control, using a cell-phone camera. If you wish to get more details about how to check a remote control, please visit this site. One among the posts has details about it. In some cases, the remote control might need to clean.

I have this EXACT SAME problem with my Insignia 26" LCD TV. I was three weeks out of warranty when it happened and Insignia wouldn't do anything to help me. I brought it to three repair shops and each repairman said that they couldn't guarantee they could fix it even IF they got the right parts. Anyhow, the TV repairman had it for three months (getting parts shipped from Asia, repair time, etc.) and he couldn't fix it. He also told me that tons of other people have the issue and that Insignia is replacing their TVs under warranty. So, if your TV is still under warranty, call Insignia. You just have to pay for shipping and shipping insurance. Hope this helps!

Could be the your micro has failed - but try resetting it first. Unplug the unit for 15+ minutes and plug it back in... After powering it up try changing the inputs and see if that corrects the problem..
