Question
Can I change the region code on my player so that I can play DVD / Blu-ray disc from other regions?
Answer South Africa is region B for Blu-Ray DVD and Region 5 for DVD and finding the procedure will be difficult as international copyright legislation prohibits manufacturers from providing instructions for changing the region code.
1. Power ON the DVD player without a DISC inside 2. Press the skip keys in this order (the keys are under the "disc menu" and "stop"): right, left, right, left, right, right, left (YOU DON'T HAVE TO GO TO SETUP MENU, just do this in the "blue screen". 3. It will show a menu with region, now use the arrow keys to select "region" and change to "test 0" (all regions). 4. Press OK to confirm. Enjoy Silmara
2.) select preferences to go to the preferences page
3.) enter 9 6 5 3
4) select your region
personally I set my players to 0 meaning region free ,, this means that it can player any movie from anywhere without having to setup region any more. Region free players are the best. I'd suggest you set yours to 0 as well therefore you will never have to set up your region again and u can play anything.
Switch the player on
Open the tray door
Press Setup on the remote control
Select Audio
Press RIGHT ARROW
Press 2,1,2,2,2,5
Press LEFT ARROW
Press DOWN ARROW
Press 0 when the screen displays region code
Press Setup to exit

Australian players are designed only to play Region 4 discs. United States discs are Region 1. It is illegal to change the Region code on a DVD player, so I can't tell you how to do it (ironically, it is the most frequently asked question about dvd players on Fixya.com - global world), but there are videos on YouTube that will show you how to do it - I would just enter "philips region code dvd" as your seacrh term. You won't find that exact model, but one of the codes in the video should work. Note that you will only be able to change the region code three times on a Philips - after that you will be locked out. So change it to Region 1 once, and never change it again.
