When I turn on my Dimage E500, I get a blank black screen. I can review the old pictures taken on my memory card through my camera with no problems. I just cant take new pictures and if I try the pictures come out black like the screen. I have changed my batteries and memory card but nothing has helped. Please help me. Thank you Nicole

in some case jammed lens shutter can give this problem, when is like this you can fix the problem playing gently with the lens. Here is a thread from fixya giving solutions for this problem, hava a look.

If it is not that can be a defective board or the sensor, if it was just the lcd you would have been able to take pictures

Ensure that you cannot take photos in any way, if you can take pictures, then is the lcd connector or the display, that is not an expensive fix.
    Check also your guaranty.

Trouble reviewing picture as camera turns off

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS TO COMPUTER
If your photos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.

I can not see image on screen

If you can see the picture before you take it, then the taken picture is black - Camera needs repair at a service shop - aligment.
If you cannot see the picture before you try and take it - The lens shutter is jammed. A repair shop is required. Could be $80 -$200+ depending on parts costs and labour.
These are only probable answers.

My Konica Minolta Dimage z5 won't play back photos

What size memory card are you using? I have had this problem trying to use a a 4gb card, which apparently is not compatible with the Z5. Using a 2gb card seems to alleviate the problem.

LCD is black

you can see images clearly? but no Menu items show is that what you mean? This would indicate a firmware malfunction. If you see nothing at all on the screen but only 'ghost' images then the back light has blown. Try first of all with the camera on tapping gently at the base of the casing in the region of the screen- this is where the connectors to the main board are. Contact The Minolta support team. If you are getting nowhere - I suggest the next camera - repairs are not usually an economic option if at all.
