Hi. The SC220 issue is a known one on the 3800c. It's a firmware related problem, and the code, which points to the synchronizing detector boards, is erroneous. You can read more about it, and possible ways to avoid it here. Updating the firmware to get rid of this problem is not an easy job.
- Go to Ricoh-USA.com - Click Downloads on the blue bar along the top - Click "Download Ricoh Drivers & Software" - Select the AP3800C from the drop-down list under Printers, B&W/Color/Gel and then click Go - Choose your operating system from the list - Download the two files listed under Mac OS X 10.5
