Your PC may be running the Microsoft version of the driver instead of the set that came with the printer's cd installer.
So, FIRST, turn off printer and remove USB cable from PC.
Then, go to the windows control panel, then to printers/faxes and REMOVE the new printer.
After that is done, run the install CD that should have come with your printer. If the CD ask you to install all of just some software (such as the entire "suite") then do that. AFTER, install is conplete, restart computer.
Once computer is back up completely, plug printer back into USB and power printer on. Windows should detect the new printer and use the newly installed software from the manufacturer rater than the generic driver from windows. Scanner software should now be available from the LEXMARK folder in the START menu.
