Re: Convergence in home repair cost ?
About 450.00 or more compared to about 50 if you do the repair yourself. Which takes about an hour from start to finish. I can post a link that sells the new ICs and gives free installation instructions and on line tech support so you can easially do it yourself. If you would like the link to the site, please let me know

The tv have a problems known as a convergence problems,it dead. The tv have colors R,G,B lines mis alignment, have colors shadows or 3D pictures. The tv convergence board, the 2 STK convergence ICS and some or all it resistors are dead. These parts, must be replaced to solved the tv convergence picture problems. The shop, will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.
if your talking about the sets convergence does not line up and it looks like a 3-D picture than
The best advice I can tell you at this point is to go to tvrepairkits.com and order the complete convergence kit for your model of TV set, no need to search and order multiple parts from different sources and pay multiple shipping fees! Go to http://www.tvrepairkits.com/xcart/home.php?partner=larry The kit comes with original Sanyo STK IC'S , not those cheap aftermarket or china made IC'S full pictorial directions, the thermal paste, resistors, the correct Pico fuses, AND free live on-Line tech assistance in case you run into a problem with the repair. They ship out 2 to 3 day Priority mail, the next day in most cases GOOD LUCK!!! Larry Dillon. http://www.fixya.com/support/r3342653-convergence_fix
Ur tv have convergence problems, now the 2 STK convergence ICS are completely dead,U lucky u tell it was 3D screen, before it go completely dead, went black screen.Or ur problems it will very hard to diagnose.U now how to do soldering?Must replaced 2 STK convergence ICS,some or all it resistors.Tries Websites Tv repair World.com,Tvrepairkits.com to buy a convergence kit to repair it ur self. The shop will cost u $300-350 for parts and labors.

I have over 10 years experience in electronic tech support.
know this isn't what you want to hear, but the problem you've described
can't be fixed with troubleshooting. Your TV will have to be repaired.
There is a part that has developed a defect and needs to be replaced. Normally it will cost at least $75 to have the
set looked at by a repair shop (diagnostics). If the part needed to
complete the repair is available, that money will apply towards the labor costs.
I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information
allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here.
Please let me know if I can be of further assistance.
There is either a pair of STK392-570's, or
a STK393-110. Probly also 1 or 2 pico fuses for the +/- 26v line in the power supply.
Parts aprox 80.00 to 90.00
Labor 150.00 to 180.00
Plus service call fee if any.
So figure it up from there. Labor cost does vary from location to location. I do feel confident that capasitors are not causing this problem in the way you explained the symptoms.
Hope this helps,
I would first suspect bad connections and/or a defective convergence IC. The burning is the current limiting resistors getting hot. I would stop using the set and get it repaired. Replacing the convergence ICs should have a pars cost in the $40-$60 range. The few resistors that should also be changed should only add a few $$ to the cost. Add in the local labor rate for the total repair cost.
Also, request that the ICs be changed rather than the whole convergence board. It will be less expensive and won't require a complete convergence adjustment.
If the picture was good prior to the 3D images, I would fix it. The convergence ICs either have poor connections or are defective. The IC is an STK392-110. There may be 2 inside the set. If you have this repaired, expect a labor cost in the $200 range. Request that the ICs be replaced rather than the board changed. This will maintain all of the internal settings and require only part replacement not a complete re-convergence adjustment.
Your Projo is a complicated piece of equipment, involving 3 picture tubes (like 3 tv's), convergence failures are extremely common, I dont think $550 is totally unreasonable, but I dont think it is a power supply issue if it is just effecting 1 color, usually it would cost around $100 parts $300 labor to repair, might be a little high, I suppose they are also charging you for pickup and delivery, I hate taking sets into office as that sometimes jars stuff loose or cracks boards.
Your convergence module is probably bad.
It is a plug in module, so labor would be lower if the convergence settings are still good. The bill would be about $300.00 If not, the labor for convergence would add to the bill. If the whole job needed full convergence the cost would be about $500 to $600.
Hope this helps,
