    Hello OZ,

Thank you for the prompt reply. It was very simple and digestable.:):))

I did follow your advise and realized the Maxell CD's open in another comp. But my laptop opens all other brand CD's with pic and music other than Maxell.Weird isn't it?.More weird is that the Maxell CD's have a mind of its own it does open randomly on my laptop.(There goes another one for you to solve)

Do you think I should still work on the OS as what u suggested earlier?

I am trying to back up the Marell CD stuff and reburn them in another CD.I am thinking the Maxell CD is gone bad.Correct me if I am wrong.

    Thanks again

Dear aggie07 (Seeja)

Righteo, heres another strange one for me to solve.....

Firstly, what you should try to do is open the disc on another computer to make sure you dont have a drive fault/ read error on your machine.

If you re like me and ou have noticed that one drive only reads, and the other one only writes, then you need to consider going out and buying a 2.5" external hard drive caddy and laptop drive and backing eberything up onto that, then re-installing your operating system. This might b your best bet, just in case your machine has gone waffty and it wont burn files properly, so yep, thats my answer to it, back it up, clear it out, then burn it off again. If it still is not working, then either you have a defective writer drive or drives, or the media you are using is ****. Having said that, maxell are not generally too bad disks, so i wouldnt have thought that that would be an issue.

Th last one to try is save them in the correct format. Either JPEG, or JPG will do, or other formats such as BITMAP. here possible, avoid compressing files with things like winzip/ winrar, and dont overburn your discs. Ensure that windows can open it too, do this by going to microsofts site and checking theri file compatability list.

|Right, well I hope this is to your satisfaction, and wish to hear from you soon in order to find out how you got on with this one,

in the mean time, please take care, and hope to hear from you soon

yous sincerely

P.S. Im her every day 24hrs 7/365 days a year, so if you do have other issues relating to a technical problem/ geeky matter, please do feel free to collar me over and i will help you with these and any other electronics friendly and wont bite, and my advice, is simple and digestable.......

    Dear seeja

Right, well this is strange, and if one machine is reading these discs randomly, and your other machine is not, then either it could be down to either the layering of the discs (how far the information is burnt into the disc) or even how the laser head is anticipating the data.

My other guess is Operating system corruption, I would suggest bcking up everything onto seperate media and then re-installing the operating system.

Once this is done, I would also suggest that you discontinue using this brand of disks and even send them back to the manufacurer/ vendor as possibly faulty. It is possible that you have a bad batch of disks, so certainly query this too.

Lastly, viruses, spyware, worms, trojans and other malware can affect the way your system is reading and writing to disks and disk packs (hard drives), so if you notice any slowing up or pooling of data on your system, then its a good chance you have infections, so get rid of these by formatting your hard drive and re-install your operating system.

Ri-disc, tevion and tuffdisc are three very good brands of disk to use, and its unlikely you will encounter any burning issues/ read-write problems with and sony are also good makes, and if you are using DVD, then only consider using dual layer +- discs.

I hope this resolves your situation for the moment, and please do let me know how you are getting on,

    yours sincerely

Hello, Go to my computer and click on the dvd drive usually d: and should open up the pics and you can click on each other and view. If not then you have the wrong type of cd for your player.

I downloaded all my pictures on to a cd, loaded the cd in my asus notebook and nothing! how in the world do i put my pictures on the notebook from a cd?

Hello there.

Can that CD you burned be read on a different computer aside from where you burned it? Blank CD's should be "finalized" after burning it to be able to view it on different CD-ROMS. CD-roms which are not CD-writers cannot read "unfinalized" burned CDs.

To finalize it, insert back the same CD in your CD-writer and look for the option to finalize it.

If it is finalized and still can't be read by your notebook, try another brand of blank CDs.

Free Download for Vivitar Experience Image Manager

Could not find a download for you on their website.

You know you can download your pictures manually without the image manager. From the manual:

1. Use the USB cable that came with your camera to connect your camera to your computer.
2. A window appears with a list of options, select Open folder to view files and click OK.
3. Open the DCIM folder and the folder inside to view the media files.
4. Select the media and copy the files from this folder into your computer. Optionally, select the files and choose Copy from the Edit menu. Then select a folder and choose Paste from the Edit menu.
5. We recommend that you copy the images into the Pictures/My Pictures folder and the videos into the Videos/My Videos folder.
6. Do not disconnect the cable during transfer. Doing so will cancel the transfer of any files on their way to your computer.

If you still want to try to get the Image Manager software, I would suggest contacting Vivitar support at:

Corrupted Pictures?

i suggest you always format the card in your camera every time you release it and use in your pc. card may get infected with virus and may affect the performance. never format card in pc! Better save pictures in hdd or cd than in mem cards.
