Question about RCA 27R410T 27" TV
I found this posting on FixYa...
(This 27" TV came in with the HOT (TL035) shorted, fuse OK. Replaced with 230760 (S2055N) and replaced the Flyback (LL005) 262341)
and it replicates exactly my TV's symptoms...
Rather than spend $150 or more at the TV shop, I'm game to try this fix. Here's my question: I'm quite comfortable around electronics and have done various repairs myself. This would be my first foray into a TV... if I order the HOT and the flyback, will they be visibly obvious when I open the case and therefore easy to swap out? I don't have any schematic or layout for the chassis.
The flyback will be unmistakeable once (IF) you have the replacement and the HOT will be mounted on a heatsink very close to the flyback, sometimes on an apparent shield surrounding it.
Don't fail to buy some silicone grease or a silicone rubber pad for the transistor; these things are pretty close to death when everything is normal and will fail if you sneeze.
The RCA PN may be hard to find, messages I saw implied that but NTE has a substitute number for the S2055N:
This part should be available at most electronic suppliers and has an isolated housing making an insulator unnecessary but not some thermal help.
But the flyback . . .
That could be tough; my former supplier, who always had what I needed is gone and the market for replacement flybacks is shrinking daily due to the death of CRT monitors and TVs.
