The TV will shut off after a few minutes and then cannot be turned back on until you unplug and replug it. Then it will shut off again after a few minutes. How can I fix that? How much would a repair...

it sounds to me that there is a bad capacitor or perhaps a cold solder joint somewhere in the power section of your tv. not sure how much repair would cost, but i will say it's about $50 to have an service tech come out and lok at it.

Wont power on after being turned off, but if unplugged and replugged it will.

It looks like the power supply is not providing the correct voltages to the other circuitry and that is when the LCDs failed to power up. In about 95% of the time the power up issues are due to a defective power supply.
I repair these power supplies, let me know if you required further assistance or you can email [email protected] for more info.

AKAI LCT2785TA TV does not turn on

look closely at the electrolytic capacitors in the power supply. If you see any with the tops bulging out, replace them. Especially the 1000mfd caps labeled EC9, EC10, EC18, EC19, EC20

Turns off after a few seconds

The unit is going in to shutdown. There is a short in the unit. My guess would be the HOT and or Flyback are bad.
