It is a 1950,s clare-jewel gas stove, gas was turned offfor approx.20 min. i lite the 2 pilots for the burners, then went to light stove and nothing .can not hear gas or smell ,im confussed any help would be appreciated
Under each (the) oven behind a panel, is a red button it may be a different color from time. this has to be pushed and held while the pilot light under the oven floor is lit with a match. it has to be held to allow enough heat to activate the thermocouple, which will keep the pilot on. if this does not work there may be an additional problem
What if the oven pilot is lit but main oven burner will not light? I just used the stove (Wedgewood) yesterday and it worked fine. Seems my problem goes beyond the safety switch since the pilot is already lit (and stays lit). I can turn the oven control knob but no sound or smell of gas, even though pilot remains lit. Even tried to manually light the burner but no gas. Does this sound like a regulator problem? At least I assume the device that connects to the oven control knob is a regulator?
Duke, did you ever find an answer to the above question? I am having the same problem with my 1948 O'Keefe & Merritt..
