Hi
Depends upon your browser.
For Google, make sure your bookmarks bar is activated in "settings" which you can get to from the tools menu - far right of address bar. Also from this menu are various options for viewing and managing bookmarks.
For IE, use the star icon on the right of the window, and this will show you your favourites (as IE calls them), and the list can be pinned to the left of the IE window by using the icon at the top left of the Favourites window.
Hope this is helpful, if so would you please register that with Fixya
Cheers
What version of windows are you using? Windows 7 you can create a shortcut to your gmail account on the desktop. Fix All My Computer Shortcut Links
Computers often use shortcut links to make it easier for
users to locate and open files.
These links are commonly placed in a folder easily
accessible to users, such as a desktop folder.
When a shortcut is created, it is given directory
information and an icon.
If the file associated with a shortcut is later moved, the
shortcut may fail to locate the file.
When this problem occurs, you need to update the shortcut's
directory information.
This process is often automated by operating systems, but in
a some instances, you need to repair shortcuts manually
Right-click on a broken shortcut link's icon.
Select the "Properties" option. Locate the
"Target" box and copy its information into your clipboard using the
Ctrl and C keys.
Open the "My Computer" folder on your computer and
paste the target information into the folder's address bar using the Ctrl and V
keys.
If the address bar is not viewable, you may need to enable
it in the folder's settings.
Find address bar options in the "View" menu under
"Toolbars."
The file's target path folder will open.
Locate the file in the target path folder.
If the file is not present, the target path is inaccurate
and likely the cause of the shortcut link error.
Locate the file in its correct folder.
Browse folders or search for the file by typing the file
name into the "Start" menu.
After finding the file, open the properties of the shortcut
link icon again.
Copy the file's correct path, from the containing folder's
address bar, and paste it in to the "Target" box, replacing the
incorrect link.
Another way to find a file's target path is by right
clicking on the file and selecting Properties.
You can find accurate target information in the
"Target" box, provided the icon is the original file icon and not a
shortcut.

Hi dear,
Create Icons for Shutdown and Reboot
If you find it annoying to access the Start Menu for shutting down or rebooting the computer, create a shutdown and reboot icon for the desktop. Desktop Shutdown Icon
Right click on the desktop Click [New] [Shortcut] to open the Create Shortcut Wizard Type [shutdown -s -t 00] without the brackets. Click [Next] and type a descriptive name of your choosing for the shortcut Click [Finish]
Add a bit of class to the shortcut by assigning it a custom icon. Right click the shortcut, click [Properties] and select the [Shortcut] tab. Click [Change Icon] and select from the icons that are displayed. Desktop Reboot Icon
Right click on the desktop Click [New] [Shortcut] to open the Create Shortcut Wizard Type [shutdown -r -t 00] without the brackets.
A Final Note:
If you happen to be as fanatical as I am about having nothing on the desktop, drag the new icons into the Quick Launch area of the Taskbar.
then use it.
if not resolve it
then use following step ;-
click on start then go to RUN and type SFC /SCANNOW
press enter
this command recover all windows lost files, if it will ask windows CD then enter the windows disk.
Hi sadiebay. It was not my solution for your initial post, but I think I can explain why you can not find the shortcut tab.
Because Internet Explorer is a Microsoft program integrated into XP, it is considered a 'Desktop Icon' item. The shortcut you are trying to find the properties tag for was probably put on the desktop using the Show Desktop Items routine in the Display Properties routine. It will not have the same right-click options available as a regular shortcut icon placed on your desktop.
The solution is to go to your Start Button->All Programs and right click on the Internet Explorer icon in the program list, then Send To Desktop. You will get another icon that looks the same, but you should notice that the new one has the small shortcut arrow on the 'E' where the old one doesn't. Now when you right click on the new icon (the one with the arrow) you get Properties as the last option, and within the Properties tab you should see Run with a drop down box next to it, in which you can select Maximized. Delete the old icon (right-click and delete, doesn't hurt anything) and put the new one in its place to keep your desktop set as you are used to it.
